“Day 1”
Dear Journal,
Hi there!!! My name is Aurora Waterflower. You may know my family: My aunts are the Sensational sisters of Cerulean, my brother is Sam “Bullseye” Ketchum… and I don’t think I need to tell you who my parents are.
So I just turned 10 at the end of February (big brother calls me only 2 since I am a leap year baby.) and I finally get to start my Journey today. In preparation, I have been staying with Grammy in Pallet town for the past week… Mom and Dad says it was a good experience since thanks to the Pokémon reserve here I got to learn care techniques for many different Pokémon.
(And just to clear the air. NO! The reserve is not some processing plant that grinds your unwanted zubat into candies to cram down the gullet hole of your latest catch. What you feed your battle slaves are just specially colored rare candies.)
Anywoosits… today began in much the same fashion to my Dad’s journey.
…I woke up late.
Fortunately the little twerp next door, Richie came by to make sure I was up and about. The prof had apparently figured that my need for sleep was hereditary and said he wouldn’t hand out starters till we were both present. This year was special. Gone were theCharmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur choice of old, and instead the choices will be either an Eevee, or a Clefairy. Since I was snoozing the professor started studying the local habitats of Pidgey. Richie charged me to find him and bring him back. When I got there he thanked three Pidgey for letting him study them before walking back toward me. A quick joke about being “just like my father” and we were about to head back when the most Wondrous thing happened.
A FRIGGIN PIKACHU JUMPED US
As the professor handed me a couple Balls to start me off, he explained that the natural habitat for Pikachu was further north in Viridian Forest, and Pikachu rarely make it this far south. Two whiffs before my ball collided with the Female Pikachu’s noggin and the prof announced it was a “Sweet” capture. He may be dating my Grammy… but he is not that cool.
Well after chasing the poke ball back to the lab, I finally got to claim my starter. In honor of my mom I decided to name her Pipipi… a nickname that my Dad’s Pikachu apparently gave me when I was very young. after words of encouragement I set off.
Now the first thing to know is that this isn’t my dad’s Pokémon journey…. you know where he threw a rock at a flock of Spearow… and first met mom. No, this is what is called a “Master’s journey.” And for the purposes of becoming a Pokémon master, I can only catch the first Pokémon I run into on a route for my competitive party. And after dodging a couple Dive bombing Pidgey I found a shy little Oddish trying to camouflage into a bush, and so the first Pokémon besides Pipipi, Is Ishie the oddish.
When I get to Viridian I meet some weird people blocking my path, red hair, blue hair, and a Kantonian Meowth. They shoo me away as I try and get past them. They sound a lot like people dad had to deal with on a weekly basis when he was my age. Fortunately I found my brother with some gifts by the poke mart. He gave me a special poke ball and the runt of his starter’s litter, a Shiny Eevee. Some special strings were pulled and if I follow certain rules I could keep both. First off, I had to immediately box Mewie until/unless I can become a Pokémon master while *TECHNICALLY* I have to catch another Eevee before I can chase for candies.
Bro drives me back to pallet since there was a parcel for professor oak that needed to be delivered. Once there I dispatched my rival’s Eevee with my own. After getting some berries to help make catching easier I was off again, with my brother to work with me before I hit viridian forest. Our first stop was route 22 (it is west of viridian and leads to the indigo plateau.) I found the Cutest little female Nidoran you had ever seen as big bro tried to teach me his secret technique known as -SYNCRO CATCH- (in a nutshell the technique involves the user or users to time their throws to create a double strong energy to catch the Pokémon.) I’m going to have to master this … because reasons.
So as he and I are breaking for lunch, he mentions that Bulbasaurs have been spotted in viridian forest and further more that apparently the scent of female Nidoran poison lures in Bulbasaur… so he had me practice my synchro catch with them before marching me up to the forest where we dodged the ICKY bugs in favor of a cute looking Bulbasaur. So before we started to head back to the centre for lodging I had Ranie and Bulbie to add to my team.
Of course there was one other route I could grab from, so my last grab was a Ratata that is named Ritzie. This apparently is one of the few nights I stay here, as he made sure I had a tent, as well as a stove and provisions before taking off. He told me that he would make my battles and might even have some treats for each one I win. Well anyway, I need to call Mom and dad before I get some shuteye. Pipipi is already asleep.
