~ Biography ~
Early Life: Born Dain Mychul Ikaram, he was like any common child of his homeworld. His parents were average citizens of Rendili and provided Dain with an average life growing up. There was no struggle for food or supplies to sustain the four member through the early part of his life. When he was six standard years of age, his sister, Dhallya, was born and the two remained close through childhood.
Choosing a Life: From a young age, Dain had a love of adventure and sought to become a pilot; "the Galaxy's Best" is what he often claimed he would be and so when he came of age to begin training for a craft that would take him through life, he sought out anything he could find in starship mechanics and flight. It took him many years to hone the skills he gathered through his training at the local academy, but he soon had his feet under him and even was gifted an again Wayfarer-class freighter for his first ship. This ship, being his first, he took across the stars until there was nothing further that could be done to restore it from years and years of flight.
Decommissioning "Silent Maiden," as the vessel had come to be known, weighed heavily on him as he had grown to become very attached to the ship.
The Path of the Smuggler: Not long after the decommissioning of the "Silent Maiden" Dain was forced to play his hand as he did not have the resources to procure himself a new vessel on his own without pulling out a loan in which he would not be able to make promises of repaying in a timely manner. So . . . instead of pursuing this, he fell in line with the crew of the "Shadow's Legacy" as the pilot after their previous respective had come under unfortunate circumstances in a recent cantina brawl. He never knew what actually happened with the previous pilot although death was not out of the realm of possibilities considering the brawl had occurred on the Smuggler's Moon of Nar Shaddaa. And so it is here where the youthful man of Rendili first came into the life of a Smuggler.
Dain would run with the crew for roughly two years as their pilot before offered the position to become the second in command after the prior one had chosen to step aside and retire. This offer, he refused at first, but would later reconsider and accept. His tenure in that position, however, would not be long lived as his heart was still set on procuring his own ship again. So, two years later, Dain left the crew and made purchase of his next ship.
Putting Together a Crew: With the purchase of his new ship, an aging YX-1980 Space Transport which he named "Scarlet Vixon," Dain began to seek out members to make his own crew, a process that took a great deal longer than he had originally anticipated it would take. As such, he, himself, ended up filling many of the positions that were separated into individual assignments under the last crew he worked with. No, he was now the mechanic, medic, pilot, captain, and a number of other positions, but he didn't particularly mind the extra work put on shoulders. He actually enjoyed it as it forced a new challenge on him.
This crew of just three members, he ran with for about two years before unfortunate circumstances forced him into Mandalorian space and then into eventual capture from the clan Vhett on Concord Dawn.
The Mandalorian Experience: Initially a captive of the Mandalorians, Dain's tenure among the clan actually forged itself into something a bit unusual. Where the other two members of his crew were killed, he alone was kept alive. The reasons behind this, he didn't understand, but he was thankful for the fact his life was still his own. Time seemed to pass quickly here, as days bled into weeks which then bled into months and eventually years. During that time, he'd been released from his "cage" yet not given the option to leave.
But, he made the most of his time here, and even sought to embrace the culture of those he now shared a life with as an outsider. He learned their language, a harsh tongue called Mando'a, and their unique customs to include the ritualistic combat that took place within what they called the "Battle Circle." The time he spent among these men and woman changed his opinion of them greatly though. They were not simply warmongering savages intent of seeing the galaxy burn as they rose to prominence. No, they were much more than. Honor was huge to them. Their clan was who they were. It was their family and they served this deity they named "Kad." It was from this "Kad" they were handed the 7 principals in which they all sought to live their lives by. This Resol'nare as they called it. And with his changed view, you might even say Dain had somewhat fallen in love with the culture, but the culture was not who he was. Not yet.
One of the Vode: Eventually, Dain was offered a choice and his decision would not be an easy one. There were two options and either posed a great risk or great security. On one hand he had the option to be free once more and return to the never stationary life of a smuggler. The other allowed him to become one of the Vode. A true Mandalorian and brother of the Mando'ade. He could either return to the familiar or start something new and as the decision was so large, he pondered over it for several days before finally making it.
That decision was to become one of the clan. To aid them and protect they as they would him.
