You find yourselves in a vast field on the planet of Naboo, the site of countless battles due to it's open terrain and huge size. The wind is harsh and the grass blows back and forth, a storm is coming, a storm the likes of which Naboo hasn't seen in a millenium. 20 posts into the match the heavens open and spew forth it's life giving substance in a torrential downpour, instantly soaking the field.
"You know I'm not a fighter, Geir," Tireya exclaimed to her older brother and Jedi Blademaster, Geir Hammand, as he led her out to the plains. The grass folded beneath their feet as the two Jedi stepped out into the open. Dark cloauds billowed on the horizon, a sharp contrast to the lush, bright green pastures with clear, blue skies overhead. I guess it was as good a day as any to train, but Tireya genuinely dislike this form of training. She saw no purpose behind it as she never saw herself as a protector on the front lines, but instead as a healer that seldom left the confines of the temple. That's where her talents lay.
"You know evil exists out there. That there are servants of the Dark Side that wish for nothing more than to hurt you. Should they day come, I need you to be confident in your abilities to protect yourself and others." There was an honesty to her brother's words that she couldn't deny. But at the same time, it didn't make her like her current predicament any less.
She ran a hand down her tan colored Jedi tunic and tugged her brown cloak open. There, her hand (right) rested upon a single. It was her hand-crafted lightsaber and it had an elegant design etched upon it. Her hazel eyes flashed to the ground as she lowered her head with a sigh. "You know I don't like this, but I appreciate your concern. That is something I've always found admirable about you, Geir. No matter who it is, no matter what they have done against others - you have always managed to see the good in their heart. That is why you are a Master and set upon the High Council before this terrible sickness ripped through the galaxy."
"It's what we are taught and stand for with the Jedi Order, Tireya. But, we've delayed long enough. It's time to begin training." As he spoke, he took a step back, his hands clasped behind his back. He didn't pulled a lightsaber from his person, but instead, left an opening for another person to step in. This session had not been established just for her, but for the benefit of another as well.
As if on cue, Rai appeared in front of Tireya as soon as Geir stepped to the side. He stopped about twelve feet away from the female Jedi, his hands resting in the sleeves of his brown robes. He bowed his head.
"Good afternoon, Tireya. Apparently we've been roped into a training duel against one another." He rolled his eyes. There was no need for this. Absolutely no need. Just because he had been in a tough situation on Corellia did not mean he was incapable of defending himself. But Mike disagreed and insisted, pleaded even, that Rai at least take one training session with the Blademaster himself. If Rai hadn't accepted the offer, he would never have heard the end of it from Mike. But why did the training session have to happen all the way on Naboo? To travel from Honoghr for such a mundane exercise was insane!
So here he was, standing with his training opponent, listening to the low rumble of thunder in the distance as the skies slowly began to grow darker. There was a slight cool breeze that blew across his face, gently ruffling the small tuft of black hair on the top of his conical head. All he had brought with him, were his two lightsabers, having decided to leave his forearm bracer on his ship. Both hilts rested on his right hip, one was a silver hilt with ornate golden circles that lay in a line from the pommel to the emitter and inside housed a Kasha crystal, which would clear his mind of distractions even in the tensest of combat. The other hilt was wrapped in brown leather straps, up until the emitter which was black, which housed a Jenruax crystal, giving the wielder more agility and speed.
The only reason he carried two blades was because one was the one he had created when he first became a Jedi, and the other was a gift from his Master. Heck, he didn't even know why he carried them at all? There were more peaceful solutions to conflict than violence.
"Well, I guess ladies first." The Cerean chuckled, his mood lighthearted and easy. There was no way he would make the first attack.. even if it was just training.
Tireya gave a slight bow to the imposing Cerean as he approached. How could one of such size be so soft and unwilling to use his size to an advantage. But then again, was she much different? She shared a bloodline with the Blademaster of the Jedi Order, but had no inclination to improved upon her own skills with a blade. She had even convinced herself that she had no skill in sword play, which simply were not the truth. Anyone who took the time to meditate and focus upon the three pillars of the Force, could become an expert. Control was essential to lightsaber fighting and the greatest path to that, was through deep meditation and insight.
She pulled the lone hilt of her single-bladed lightsaber and thumbed the activation switch. The faint green blade purred to life and seemed to emanate in the light side of the Force. Her feet fell into a position that was larger than shoulder width. The toe of her lead left foot pointed toward the Cerean, while the right was positioned perpendicularly to that. The form was that of Form VI and was nearly the only form she had any confidence in for Niman was a favored form for many Jedi Consulars through the storied past of the Jedi Order. She held the hilt of her back behind her in her right hand, pointed directly into the air overhead while her left hand extended outward in front of her, palm open toward Rai.
From here she waited. She didn't say anything, but waited. All the while she felt as though she looked ridiculous. She wouldn't attack. It wasn't in her nature. She was just too pacifistic for that.
Rai's eyes were the only thing that moved as he watched Tireya pull her lightsaber hilt from her waist and ignited it. The emerald blade of the Jedi Consular shot forward as she adopted to opening stance of Niman, a form that Rai too was familiar with, although he had long studied the third, most defensive form of Soresu for most of his career before adopting his pacifist ways. Since then, he had never wielded his weapon against anyone.
A flash of Kendra's face shot across Rai's mind, scarred with pain as the life was leaving her body. Pain shot through Rai's heart as he recalled the one person he had used his lightsaber on: his own best friend. But he had done that to save her life, to keep her from becoming a victim of the plague that had devastated the galaxy. But he had killed nonetheless and now, it kept him awake every night, her face haunting his dreams.
Rai snapped back to the present and took a step backwards with his right foot, planting it firmly into the dirt, taking up a solid back stance. His left foot pointed towards Tireya, and his right foot pointed out towards his right. His hands came in a casual fighting stance, his hands held in front of him in loose fists.
He wouldn't draw his weapon. Never again.
The Force continued to swirl around him. Rai didn't want to hurt Tireya... It was just a training session: all he had to do was make her yield.
With a small wave of his right hand, Rai reached out with the Force in an attempt to grip Tireya's lightsaber and rip it from her grasp, hoping to send it into the grass to her left. As he did so, Rai pushed forward off of his back leg, skipping forward until he was within striking distance and initiated a quick jab with his left hand, letting the fist harden as it shot forward towards his opponent's gut.
Tireya would be lying to herself if she denied that the pull at her saber's hilt had been expected and as the Force talent came, it took no time to rip the weapon from her hand. It scurried off to her left and she gave it a cursory glance as she calculated her next move. Alas, though, that move would not be one that required the weapon.
Tapping into the Force as she stepped backward to her right, Tireya concentrated intensely. She was focused had her mind made up for what she wanted to do, but needed slightly more time to prepare than her rather large friend here was giving her which is why she stepped away in the fashion she chose for she wanted to keep here distance - for the moment - as best as she was able.
This series of events likely looked odd with the giant marching her way and her - being dwarfed by the man's figure - retreating as she did. Still, though she gathered the Force within herself and concentrated as best as she was able in the moment. For her, the concentration bit wasn't difficult; it was keeping the reversed pace without managing to trip herself up in her haste.
Rai watched as Tireya side-stepped his initial jab and continued to retreat, a true sign of pacifism. One that Rai himself would often himself do, except that this training match would be so pointless and dull, uneventful even, if both of them tried to retreat. He could sense the presence of Ashla building around his colleague, and knew that soon, she would counter him with some application too the Force that wouldn't harm him, just make incapacitate him.
Naturally, Rai would be ready, as he continued to feel the warm presence of the force wrapping around him, letting him feel secure. He would trust that when the time came, the Force would protect him.
But as Tireya retreated, Rai gained on her, his stride much larger than hers and Each step of his were two of hers. This time, he skipped forward again, his right leg extending to its full reach, an easy four feet if not more, intending to make contact with Tireya's left leg, just below the knee, in an attempt to sweep her out from under her feet.
He was holding back, attacking with only one move at a time. He didn't want to hurt her. Hell, he didn't even want to be here. Dammit, Mike!
As Rai continued to advance, Tireya knew there was but a matter of seconds before he would be able to close the gap on her. He was a behemoth in comparison and his long strides dwarfed the much smaller ones of hers. But perhaps his lumbering size could be use against him and still allow her to gather the Force within herself. Without her lightsaber in hand, Tireya had been Force back onto her strength and into her comfort zone for she was a Consular and spent a number of years focusing on a plethora of Force talents and among them, there were a number she had mastered. But . . . of those she had mastered, only a hand full would be rational to use. This, she knew and with it, perhaps the tides could be turned.
She quickly changed her direction now, paying heed to the ever hastening pace of her much larger opponent, Tireya shifted her direction of retreat, moving now toward her own right. She was very observant to the movements taking place here - though whether out of caution due to training or her own uneasiness with everything currently was unknown. Even to her. However, her observance was about to pay off as she caught Rai's latest advance and only by mere reaction and instinct did she counter the man's attempt to sweep her from her own feet.
Lifting her extended left leg into the air, knee coming close to her own chest, she evaded the devastating strike from her much larger opponent, allowing the strike, that would have struck her just below the knee to harmlessly strike nothing but Naboo's humid air.
Thunder cracked and lightning streaked across the sky in the distance as the clouds of the impending store crept closer and closer to where she and Rai sparred. As this occurred, Tireya's foot once again made contact with the lush grass of Naboo's plains.
In the following moment, Tireya sought to unleash much of the Force she had recently gathered within herself, but in the form of a rather uncommon Force talent. With her focus completely trained to the large man in front of her, she reached her left hand out in front of her with an open palm facing her opponent. Her principal target here was the head and stomach area, though the ability would having incapacitating, yet non damaging, effects should it be successful in its execution. If effectively implemented, Rai would suffer from an intense state of dizziness and nausea - possibly even causing him to vomit. Such was the way of Malacia, especially with enacted by a Master of the ability.
As Tireya evaded his sweep (which Rai was happy about.... after all, he didn't want to actually hurt her), Rai was about to close in again when suddenly he felt the Force swarm around him, and immediately, his head and his stomach began to tingle. The Cerean knew what was coming, as malacia was technique that he too was a strong practitioner of.
This particular application of the Force would irritate and mess with the target's equilibrium, causing them to suffer from dizziness and nausea, and if the power was strong enough, even cases of vomiting would occur. Although Rai could not outright prevent this attack, there were ways he could delay it, and as such, he did so as he felt his stomach beginning to churn, threatening to send up his lunch that he had consumed not so long ago. He felt as if he stood on a boat, the ground beneath him gently rocking back and forth.
Immediately, Rai closed his eyes and took a deep breath. You see, a being's equilibrium is made up of three major components: the ears, the eyes, and the brain (in this case, Rai had two), and overloading their sensory input is what caused one's equilibrium to become off-centered. By eliminating any sensory input from his vision, Rai has successfully eliminated one of the three variables. Second, because the Cerean's biology consisted of having two brains, Rai was capable of a level of concentration and multi-tasking that most beings were not, and as such, he could concentrate on keeping himself steady... for now. His ears were exposed, there was no way to prevent that, and as such, he knew he'd have to break Tireya's concentration or line of sight quickly or else things would get gross.... Hopefully Tireya and Geir weren't those people who threw up whenever they saw someone else throw up.
As he closed his eyes, Rai locked onto Tireya's presence in the Force. It was calm, peaceful, and hesitant. Man, she was against this training just as much as he was.
"I'm sorry." He thought to himself as he raised his hands in front of him, palms facing Tireya. Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light in his palms that would cause temporary blindness to Rai's opponent if she were unable to react in time. As the light flashed, Rai lurched forward, his balance wavering, and reached out to grab Tireya in a bear hug, which if successful, would place them chest to chest and her arms pinned to her side. If not, well, Rai could feel his stomach churning... any second now....
Tireya sensed it. Something here was amiss and there was no way that the Cerean was going to give up this easily, no matter how opposed he was to this training session. He had to be coming up with something uncanny to get himself out of this predicament. And as another flash of lightning streaked across the horizon and clap of thunder rolled in the distance, she saw as the man closed his eyes. He was fighting back as best he could to regain control of his equilibrium.
She, herself, was a Jedi who specialized in the healing arts, and as such, it was imperative that she know the biology of a number of different species in the galaxy. If the day ever came when she had to use her talents to revitalize another, she prayed it would be on a species whose biology she was familiar. To her fortune, the Cerean biology was just that - familiar - as she had grown quite close to Mike over the years and as Rai had been Mike's apprentice, she had expanded her knowledge to his species in the event she would need to aid him.
Long story short, the Cerean's anatomy that consisted of a pair of brains as opposed to the common singular brain, was very well known to her. For this she knew that the effects of her application of Malacia would take longer to entrench themselves on Rai. No matter - with her preparation into this ability, the effects were taking hold quite efficiently from what she was able to gather.
But then the large man stuck his arms out in front of himself, palms facing her, to perhaps apply an ability of his own. Instinctively, she closed her eyes to concentrate more deeply into the Force and strengthen her own application of Malacia to possibly negate whatever it was that he was trying, but her efforts were fruitless.
The unnaturally bright flash of light, lit up her optical sensory synapses, even behind her eyelids, leading her not only to step back, but also to trip in her disorientation and tumble to her back on the ground. When she her eyes, grimacing as she impacted the ground, her vision was quite blurred, allowing her to perceive two long, slender shadows sweeping out across the spotted white that filled the rest of the frame. Had she not closed her eyes prior to the flash, she would have been rendered temporarily blind, but even so, this blurred vision was not much of an upgrade.
She scooted back and away from the Cerean as she attempted to scurry away from the situation. Still down as ground level, it would require more effort for Rai to combat her down here should he be able to regain control of his equilibrium that quickly. But no matter - in the fight or flight scenario, Tireya has now reverted to flight, at least for the time it would take for her to regain at least enough of her vision that she would be able to make out movements even if there was no abundance of detail to them.
Rai continued to move forward, the dizziness held at bay as his eyes remained closed... but as for his stomach, well, as much as he tried to not to think about it, he couldn't hold it back. Not anymore.
At first, his stomach lurched, and much like someone would run to the restroom before anything came up, Rai broke into a sprint in the direction that he could sense Tireya's presence. He had to stop her before he threw up. But it was no use. It came rushing out of him as he heaved again, the brown bile from the beer and pizza he'd had with Mike launching into the air like a projectile... right in Tireya's direction. But it didn't stop him.... The Cerean could power through it.
He had to open his eyes. And once he did, he'd only have moments to react before he would become overwhelmed with dizziness. His eyes flickered open and he noticed he was almost on top of her. One more step and he would have stepped on her! Already, his head began to swim and he fought to keep the dizziness at bay... just a few more seconds. Quickly, he reached down and aimed to grab her by the left ankle with his right hand, in an attempt to keep her from retreating. Knowing she would evade (If she could even see it coming), Rai would then follow her movements and throw his body at her in a tackle. After all, if he didn't he was going to fall over anyway.
If he successfully tackled her, he'd work to keep her still, long enough to make her yield, or else he'd risk vomiting all over her, and that was definitely something he didn't want to do...
Heavier and heavier the steps came, the crescendo of their intensity signifying the one who took was closing in on her. But . . . what was there for a half blind Jedi to do other than brace themselves from the next action that would take against them?
Bile spattered to the ground, impacting the lush grass of the Naboo plains with a violent nature. It spread chaotically in all directions, though the principal point of contact tended to be the ground between her legs. Even so, portions of the sickly substance splashed onto her boots and tunic. They would definitely need a thorough cleaning after this session as the smell that accompanied the projection was more rancid than anything she'd come across in a number of years. Even more so than the raging dead that littered the streets of any number of worlds in this galaxy.
She attempted to hasten her retreat, but that would fall short of her desire as the man - though madly unstable due to disorientation in his own regard - wall tumble down into her direction. It appeared as though he was attempting a maneuver to grab her leg or something, but in disarray may have come up fruitless in his attempts. From there he pinned her legs to the ground, his weight more than she would be able to break away from by pure muscle strength alone.
But alas, there was something about the attuning of a Jedi to the crystal of their lightsaber. Something that would allow for its rightful owner to be able to sense it. This could even be accomplished over great distances, the sense of one's very own weapon. And maybe now she would be able to regain possession of the very weapon she had started this undesirable training session with. Yes! That was it. That was all that need be done. If she could do this then she would be able to make the Cerean yield and this little training scenario could grind to a halt.
As she reached out with her mind, quickly locating her lightsaber her left arm stretched out with an open palm ready to receive the weapon as she called it to herself with the Force. Meanwhile, the Cerean seemed to be clamoring to try and control her movements and likely pin her which might force her into yielding herself, but with the Force already calling the blade to her, it would be unlikely that he would be able to stop this move - especially if his equilibrium was as off kilter as it appeared to be.
In a very short time, the hilt reach her hand and she gripped it (the weapon was only a mere four to five feet to her left) - more tightly than before, remembering how Rai had pulled it from her grasp earlier. Her elbow bent and her arm, unlit lightsaber in hand flashed inward where she pointed the emitter end toward Rai (a feat not at all difficult as he lay on top of her legs and would be easy to locate).
"Yield," she pleaded, praying that he would. In his disoriented state, there would be a number of things his mind might think possible, she just hoped that he would acknowledge that had she really desired to, and had he been a Sith, she would have ignited the saber immediately upon receiving it.
Rai had the advantage, and despite his now-fading nausea and mild dizziness, he wasn't about to let Tireya take the lead. Rai was a behemoth in comparison to Tireya, and as such, he could easily outmatch her in strength.
The Cerean landed on her legs, a little off target, but still completely doable. Tireya was pinned, she couldn't move away now, and all Rai had to do was get her to yield. As soon as he landed on her, he moved instantly, not allowing Tireya the time she desperately needed to call her lightsaber to her hand. Rai's right arm shot up Tireya's torso, aiming to to grasp her left forearm, pinning it to the ground, well before she had a grip on her lightsaber hilt. After all, this was a small distance for Rai's three and a half foot arm to move, and if Jango Fett was able to tie up Obi Wan Kenobi's wrists on Kamino before the Jedi Master had been able to call his hilt to him, then this was easily within the realm of possibilities for Rai.
If this worked, Tireya's legs and her left arm would be pinned to the ground. Rai's stomach still churned but its irritation was already fading, as was his dizziness... Every breath he took eased his irritations, but ultimately, he was able to power through both. Good thing Tireya had stopped it when she did, or else things could have ended out much worse for Rai.
As his right arm shot forward in an attempt to pin Tireya's arm, Rai let himself fall closer to her body, aiming to press his forearm horizontally across her chest, pinning her torso to the ground.
"Yield." His voice was firm with a matter-of-fact sentiment. When it came to a grappling match, Rai would win.
Well fuck! This wasn't what she had in mind as she felt her saber come careening into the area her hand now longer occupied. If nothing else, Rai was quite persistent for being a so called "pacifist" at heart. But then again, she seemed to be as well, though her reluctance to yield was fueled by the fact that Geir would never stop pestering her with life lessons should she give up. Would Master Frantz do the same to Rai if he yielded?
But . . . here she lay now, pinned on the ground in a rather awkward fashion. Use of her legs and feet were futile as the enormity of Rai's weight lay up her there. Now, his forearm pressed down into her at about her collar bone, pinning her there and causing her some minor discomfort, but she knew she couldn't yield. Not in front of her brother. If she did, she would never hear the end of it and that was simply something she didn't want.
However, among this awkward position, Rai had simply targeted her left arm and her body which made her right arm readily available. Was this something he missed? Or . . . had Rai intended to do this, possibly luring her into some kind of trap? The latter of the options didn't really seem his style, though. But, she had to do something and she was running out of tricks of her own. There was no time to really weigh either option against each other.
She dove deep into the force with her mind, now, her vision still clouded with white blotches from the flash before. In this state, she could sense the world around her more deeply which allowed for her to get a lay of the land and of her opponent who was apparently recovering rather swiftly from the effects of her Malacia before. But, he still carried both of his weapons with him and perhaps there would be something she could do with that. Just maybe. With both hilts hung from Rai's right hip, it would be impossible to grab even one of them with her free hand, but perhaps with the Force, there would be something she could do. It would be risky and he would likely be expecting such a stunt, so instead she chose to contend with a rather unorthodox approach and something there would be no way that he would have been suspecting.
She opened her right hand and brought it in to Rai's left side and proceeded to - of all things - attempt and tickle the much larger figure on top of her. It was a long shot, but if Rai were ticklish, it might be enough to make him squirm and move about, possibly allowing her to get an advantage of some kind. Not to mention, her vision was slowly, but surely, returning to her.
If this worked, then perhaps she could resort back to her earlier thought and force Rai to yield.
Rai had her pinned, things were going well and it looked like Mike wouldn't be able to make fun of him for being beaten by a girl. He found himself emerging victorious in their grappling match, and had knowingly left Tireya's right arm unhindered, knowing she wouldn't have it in her to deal a physical blow, but even if she did, Rai was willing to gamble that he'd be able to take it.
And he was right. Tireya didn't deal a physical blow, instead she went for something that no duelist would have ever expected. Her right hand shot up, her fingers poking into Rai's body, spasming and twitching in an attempt to do what exactly? Rai laid on top of her, confusion creeping along his face as he tried to process what Tireya was trying to do?
"Are... Are you trying to tickle me?" He almost wanted to laugh, but at the same time, this was weird. Did he consent to this? "At least buy me dinner first." Fortunately for the Cerean, his only tickle spot was on the bottom of his feet. But only he, and maybe Kendra, knew that.
The Cerean's mind shifted as he let the force flow through him, and down his arms, into his hands, and through contact, into Tireya. It would be a calming sensation full of warmth. And like an anesthetic, if Tireya were unable to defend against it, she would find herself slowly fading out of consciousness as Rai slowed down her bodily functions in a rarely seen display of Morichro. Although the technique was dangerous, in that Rai would have to constantly monitor Tireya's state, he obviously wouldn't have any trouble doing that since it was only a training exercise and there were no other distractions.
