I stopped the Zabrak in the common area as he tried to make his way to the cockpit. in front of me were data pads documenting the research I had completed on the best location of to find these crystals. after saving the Data pads and powering them down I stood and smirked.
“I had my AAI pal temporarily integrate with the systems to help us get this boat to the stars. there are two chambers, as well as a guest bunk over the table I was working at. You take port I will take starboard. now, if you can get her up to orbit… I would prefer if Master Matango did not see me in the cockpit leaving. once we have reached orbit, I don’t care one way or the other… I am taking this blasted veil …” And that was when I felt it, a new aura making its way around the hangar. at first it passed the ship heading for another, so I allowed myself to breath a sigh of relief. … then the aura began walking directly toward the ship. looking to Loki… his aura was shifting slightly. <<No… no…no..no..no..no no….>>
Kirwin increased his pace from a brisk walk to a quick jog as Loki sped by him. He didn't want to be left behind after the Zabrak had agreed to let him tag along. Kirwin quickly made his way up the Silent Angel's ramp and to his personal quarters where he placed the lightaber hilts into a display case. He then grabbed his DC-17m sniper rifle from the corner of the room and made his way back down the access ramp. He payed no attention to the trio who stood conversing in the bay as he ran past them to the MC-4x freighter-esk ship finishing its start up sequence. Kirwin dashed up the access ramp and punched the control panel to close the door and raise the ramp. Just as he started looking around did he realise that his hood no longer concealed his facial features. He quickly rectified the problem hoping Loki or the boy weren't nearby to see his face. Kirwin wasn't all to proud of his scarred features nor how he got them, "Loki, I'm on the ship and she's all buttoned up and ready to go."
Drez inquired once again about the bacta tanks being ready. It only took about three minutes to fill twenty tanks, due to the advanced tech here at the RDMC. He wasn't used to them being so quick to be ready, apparently. Adi chuckled, and nodded an affirmative.
"Bismarck is the best at what he does...and he demands the best tech for his facility. He gets it, too....this is a very well-funded medical center. You'll find that there are things here that will probably blow your mind. The tanks are already filled, and the bacta is warmed, too. They've found that a temperature of about 56.4 degrees actually reduces the risk of carbonite sickness by about seventy percent."
He was about to continue when a Wookiee made his way toward them, and apologized for the intrusion. Cocking his head, he recognized the name given. A very long time ago, a newly-appointed Jedi Master by the same name had visited the Adasca family on Arkania...and Adiemus had been enthralled with the Wookiee...he had never seen one before. Someone as large as Knight Kitkazza was bound to make some kind of impression.
"Master Jedi Kitkazza....you are no more intruding than I am. I do believe we have previously met. I was nine years old on Arkania, and you came to visit my family...it was over thirty years ago, but I remember it clearly. Your saber techniques, and mastery of the force impressed me, even then. I am indeed Adieumus Matango, but I am no Master. Not anymore, at least. I have left the religions behind, and decided to focus on what is actually important....the Force."
Adi gave a shallow bow after he introduced himself. Indeed, Adi knew well who the wookiee was, he had indeed impressed the young Matango....known then as Tidus Adasca. The Master had shown great prowess and agility, even as large as he was. This had caused Adi to pursue that as his main focus in the force....speed, and quickness. It had served him exceptionally well up to this point.
More activity in the hangar, as something whizzed by them at great speed, then something large, red, and spiky dashed into the Wayward Son. As the spaceport was still under repairs from the outbreak, Adi had allowed Raxxie to dock the Son here at the RDMC, in order to keep the ship, and its captain, safe. Figuring that Loki had forgotten something, Matango was surprised to see him enter the same ship as the original blur that had blitzed past him. The one with all the lightsabers, Kirwin, also made his way eventually into the same ship. What in the kriffin' kriff was going on? Did someone fart in the lab or something??
The ship looked like it was prepping for takeoff. The 'blur' had FELT like Diamonte...but not quite. It was more than likely the self-same person claiming he was Monte. While Adi didn't believe him, he could feel the young man meant no ill will. Figuring out who he truly was could wait a while longer. Instead, Adi opened a comlink to Loki.
Loki heard his commlink go off. Adi had asked him where they where going, when Adi asked that a feeling of dread suddenly washed over him. "Dantooine..But I get the impression you'd rather I stay?" Loki said both asking and not asking as he looked towards the young man. He could give him all the access he needed to survive in the caves of Dantooine. Loki looked down at his feed seemingly deep in thought.
The sense that something just wasn't right hit the hackles on the back of Adi's neck as soon as Loki had replied. Indeed, something was amiss, and Matango felt that Loki should stay here...
...There was trouble afoot in the universe, and whenever that happened, somehow...some way...Adi and Loki ended up in the middle of it.
::Yeah...I think you better stick around. Something bad's 'bout to go down. I do believe you would be severely missed if you took off.::
I stood still as the third person came aboard the ship. at first I was hesitant that he would be an issue, but then I saw him briefly shift to adjust his hood, and I realised for that moment, he was just like me. I stepped back and the three of us stood ready for someone to give the orders to get the ship up in the air.
But then there was a shift. connected spiritually and physically. the physical wave was a comm call. the spiritual was a shift in the aura of the region. a foreboding chill entered the area.
Looking inwardly I prayed in my native tongue to ashla, asking for special sight… and when I opened my eyes I could see in a spectrum of Auras. Against the spectral blue that marked the interior of the room the Zabrak’s aura, a deep green, pointed directly to ramp that had been closed. my own, a shimmering gold led to the cockpit. the final man was adept at hiding his own aura, and as such I could not pick out what was meant. I blinked my eyes and my sight returned to normal.
I strolled over to the ramp access and lowered the ramp… and as I pulled out my comm to code in some data, I spoke
“Loki, sir, get off the ship now. Ashla needs your paths to hold here, while mine leads to find the answers I seek. We both know that neither Wezhe nor Nuri look kindly on mortals that choose to defy the path set for them.” as I finished the program, I sent it as a data packet to a small radius of communicators, just large enough to reach to Loki’s.
“anything I need to know about potential sites and locations, send the data through that channel… also, as a personal favor… keep a signal going. If I see the signal, I will know things are well. when it stops… I will start to head back.” I unclipped my father’s creation and held it to the Tattooed Zabrak.
“This is my Father’s first creation. a project to make a saber in the likeness of the Darksaber. I had hoped on my own merits to learn to create them. Carry it into battle. when you are done, there is much I can still learn from it.”
Loki took the saber and nodded as the young man spoke, something was coming. "I'll use it well." Loki said holding it up and testing the heft, despite his size it fit his hand well. "Take this as well." Loki said handing him the curved hilted infected blade and a strange sleek black datapad. "This datapad contains all the information you'll need to access my labs and the crystals on Dantooine." Loki put his hand on the young mans shoulder. "Good luck young man." Loki turned heel and walked down the ramp and headed over to Adi. "I'm staying, I've given Monte what he needs to get into certain areas of Dantooine, Loki sniffed. and finally noticed the Wookie. Loki looked up, slightly which bothered him, he was usually the tallest being in the room and this Wookie had to be ten inches above the average height for his race. "He's quiet large." Loki stated dead pan. "What do you think is coming? Another plague? An attack? The one who caused this?" Loki was still holding the dark saber weapon in his hand, or was that the right name if it was just based off that design, Loki clipped it next to his own dark saber and looked back at the ship. "May Ashla and Bogan speed your Journey." He said quietly.
Things had changed drastically after the rampway closed. It all started with Loki's comm going off and Kirwin could just barely sense the danger that seemed to stretch toward the facility. Like long thin black fingers that saught to find their way into any crack or crevice and rip apart the planet. He didn't like the feeling of impending doom, but he also knew he couldn't leave the facility and its occupants to whatever Fate awaited them. At least not without helping to the best of his ability. Kirwin watched Loki leave the ship and then turned and looked at the boy, "Not to bail on this mission of yours. But Loki was my invitation and I don't feel like leaving the RDMC right now would be a good idea on my part. Unless you need an extra pair of hands, I will be getting off the ship now." He turned toward the ramp, slung his rifle over his shoulder and exited the ship. Kirwin stopped at the base of the ramp and looked back up the ramp, he shot a violet lit glance at the boy, "My name is Kirwin by the way. I don't know who you are, but you are not who you seem." With that he turned and walked away.
“Well met.” Were the only words i got out before the seemingly hypocritical quip about duplicity and the speaker leaving. as i raised the ramp i paced around the general area and considered my options. as much as this facility was about to face turmoil, i was present as my father… a scientist, a craftsman. not a warrior
‘don’t forget the legends regarding Ari Techi at the battle of Caridia or Yavin IV’ even my own conscious tried to convince me to stay. i paced around the chamber. I needed to do everything i could to help find the cure.Fat lot the cure does if there is no facility to develop it.any evidence i could find to help could be deteriorating as we speak.there were whispers from Corellia of a data pad with the sequenced virus.
Then one single voice rang out… a memory of a dear friend and advisor, Rin Zumei, said to me when i was contemplating this journey
'If there is only a one percent chance that this plan of yours will end in success, you must take it.'
“Codex, Begin activation sequence and get us to orbit”
with that lights switched to launch levels as the AAI used internal computer systems to pilot the ship out of the hangar. I braced as i tottered back to the table i was working at. from the outside, while all appropriate transmissions went out for clearance and traffic assurance… if anyone had a vantage point to see into the cockpit, they would find that it was empty. a note would chime when we hit orbit.
**30 years had been a long time, but not that long for the Wookiee Master. Kitkazza remembered it like it was almost yesterday. The Royal family contacted the Jedi Order about a possible coup against the Royal Family. It turned out, one of the lesser houses had enlisted the help of a disgraced General of the Royal Army to lead said coup to depose the Adasca Royal family. Given Kitkazza's special qualifications, he was chosen to find and disrupt the coup, and he did with speed and efficiency. Something that, unbeknownst to the Wookiee, stood out in the young boy's mind.**
*Kitkazza addresses Drez first, the since it was him who had spoken first about Kitkazza's interruption. Speaking Basic in Shyriiwook, he replied.*
"Thank you for such understanding. My reason for showing up unannounced is to find an anti-plague for Kashyyyk. My homeworld is suffering greatly and I was told that the Red Dawn was on the verge of finding a cure."
**Turning to face the Man called Adi, Kitazza bows politely again to him as he bows.**
*Kitkazza chuckled a little when Adi made mention of "religion" among Force users. He agreed with the man as much as any Gray Jedi would. The Force isn't good or evil, it all depended on the user themselves. But that was a discussion tabled for another day. He spoke again in basic.*
"I understand your stance on the Force young man, I'm not here to debate Philosophy. I was told you and your people were on the verge of a cure. Kashyyyk, is one of the many planets hit hard by this plague. I came here to see if I can help in some form."
*Suddenly, Kitkazza cuts off his conversation. A scent, a familiar scent catches his attention. His eye catches the eye of a large Zabrak as he walks back up after speeding away earlier. Kitkazza snarls quickly and forgets to speak basic and speaks strictly in Shyriiwook.*
"Your friend has a strange scent to him. He stinks of a wookiee who has spent too long in the shadowlands..."
"He better be a good doctor. Else, I'm coming after you, Adi." Drez warned with a hint of light-hearted sarcasm. It was a risk he was willing to take, for a better chance of survival, although still slim.
Drez then turned to the Wookie who had addressed him. "I mean, we're all here for that cure aren't we? Always glad to have an extra man on board anyways."
Drez pushed a button on a remote that was on the floor, and the reprogrammed BX commando droids reactivated; 24 of them in total. Their eye sockets lit up as they stood up from their folded position. One droid with a few markings took a few steps forward before facing Drez. "How can I be of service, my master?" The droid asked.
"Impressive, aren't they? Just wait till the clones recover." Drez asked Adi and the Wookie, though he didn't really need their opinion. He just wanted to see their reaction.
"We are indeed. We are on the verge of the breakthrough we need to complete it as well. Of course, we will be sharing the antivirus with the universe....We don't want this plague to =ever= be able to creep its ugly head up anymore.
It does my heart good to see you, Master Kitkazza. I am truly happy you have survived this madness."
Adi's head dropped a little. Everyone had lost someone, some lost EVERYONE. It was time this ended, and if the RDMC could assist that, then Adieumus would do everything he could to ensure that happened.
Drez joked with Matango about being the best. The Red Dawn wouldn't have had a hack at the head, so he knew that Bismarck was indeed the absolute best in his field. He surrounded himself with the best in -their- fields. All due to the fact that Adi liked to get himself into trouble, the best medical center in the entirety of the universe had been created. Now? Anyone who was injured in ANY way could find their way here and be healed up.
No one was better, and Matango knew it.
"Trust me, there is no one more qualified in the universe. Bismarck has brought me back from the brink of death countless times...I hold the good doctor and his team in the HIGHEST regard. Your men will be well cared for, I assure you."
The air around them felt heavy, as if a great weight was being placed upon all of their shoulders. It would appear that the Honoghr enclave and its allies were yet again being called upon to save the universe....
...Right now? Adi wasn't even sure they could save -themselves-.
"Loki is a special case. He's one of my best...but he, along with a lot of individuals that I come across, have their issues. He was a real ass at one point...but he decided to join me, and my quest to make sure the universe is safe from things like this plague.
**The Wookiee Master bows to Drez in response his statement.**
*Kitkazza saw that he was a busy man, so he made sure not to hold him up any longer.* **He straightened himself and made sure to reply in basic.**
"I can only hope that I don't disappoint in my duty."
**Kitkazza bows to Drez and turns back to Adi. It seems that Adi understood Shyriiwook. A rare thing for humans. Not many can understand the subtleties to the growls, snarls and barks.** *Kitkazza was impressed a little. Even though most Force-users could understand Shyriiwook, it took an attention to detail to really hear it's differences. So he felt he didn't need to keep up the basic, just the Shyriiwook.*
"I'm glad to be here as well. Though, not everyone can be so fortunate."
**The Conversation shifts. Kitkazza becomes rigid, and focused. His senses tuned to the Force as well as his natural senses. He sniffs the air, picking up strange vibrations not everyone would be able to discern even WITH the Force. Growling in Shyriiwook, he replies to Adi's statement.** *It's wasn't actual death or blood that the Wookiee Master could pick up on. It was the vibrations. Echoes. There was something more than the darkness that clung to the Zabrak. This made Kitkazza uneasy, and it seemed he was the only one who could detect it.*
"Strange times lead to stranger alliances. However 'unique' as you describe him, you're 'friend' has a vibration to him. Where he walks, the stench of darkness clings to him and the echoes of those he's killed scream behind him. His stance relays he's been through many battles, but his eyes relay his eagerness to initiate said battles at any given moment. Like a Predator coiled and ready to strike."
**Kitkazza doesn't ease up but he shifts the conversation.**
"I can see why you would want someone like him around. Not all negotiations end amicably, so a little aggression could be useful."
Drez bowed back to the Willie and turned to Adi. "Interesting." Drez remarked about Loki. "Strange to see Jedi and Sith working together side-by-side, at least from where I came from." He tossed a few tools off to the side as the droids unloaded the frozen clones and the commando droids just stood there doing nothing. Deciding to conserve their batteries, he decided to shut them off.
"I'm not regarded the best in any combat fields, but I'm pretty much balanced. I can literally do everything, and be good at it." He closed crates around the cargo hold to conceal any weapons. He didn't want anyone to go snooping around and finding crates full of blasters. "Speaking of that, your facility is almost defenseless. May I recommend we go to a nearby system and retrieve, let's say, more battle droids? More numbers is always better." He informed Adi. "I'll even devise your defense and escape plans if you want."
Loki nodded along as the Wookie spoke. "Yes. Jedi, I am a murderer, I've killed thousands." Loki said simply. "I have lead troops that killed millions, I have glassed planets. I had no mercy in my heart." Loki said quietly. "I however am no Longer a Sith, while my soul is forever tainted, and the Dark Side my blade of choice, my actions to use those things for the greater good now, are my own. Greed and power no longer tempt me, and I shall direct my rage at those who wish to harm and possess power and greed. I am and will spend my life making my amends, even if it means dying that way." Loki said simply bowing to the Wookie, he too understood the language.
