Korriban: Eternal Pyre
The opponents find themselves on opposite sides of the Eternal Pyre, a monument that has seen the consumption of hundreds of Dark Lords and thousands of lesser Sith in a a fiery blaze upon its altar. Shaped as a ziggarat with stairs on all four faces leading up to the flat platform at the top, with sharp stone spears raising at the corners and an altar in the center. Fight well, for the loser's corpse is next to be fed to the flames.
*Thank the Force the scenario wasn't a gimmicky one... Ahem, anyways...*
*Andor finally reached the top of the ziggurat, his black boots silent as he had traversed the stairs. He stood at the edge, the light breeze causing his black cloak to writhe like a serpent, almost as if it was a creature of its own. The black hood rest on top of the Sith's head, concealing all but his crimson eyes in shadow.*
*Why in the hell was it always Korriban? Literally no matter how hard he tried to get away from his homeworld, Andor ALWAYS was forced back. He hated Korriban, even if it played a major symbolic and historic role in the history of Sith lore. Andor could not only feel the presence of the dark side here, but he was simply overwhelmed as it threatened to drown him in its corruptive aura.*
*Andor welcomed it. He let the dark energies sink into his skin, into his flesh, into his blood. Immediately, his body and his mind were alight, his senses heightened.*
*The Sith Lord knew there was only one reason he was here: to kill. Knowing a battle was imminent, Andor instinctively checked his person, noting the equipment he had on him... Not that there was anything out of the ordinary, only his traditional armament.*
*Concealed within the sleeves of his crimson tunic (which rested underneath his black cloak, Andor had two black lightsaber hilts, one strapped to each of his forearms. Next, his finger undid the strap on the holster of his right hip, freeing his DC-15s blaster pistol, a pistol that was good for seven shots, before its battery pack recharged at a rate of one shot per second. Andor felt the bulge in the small of his back: a pouch on his belt that housed a thermal detonator, which seldom was ever needed. Finally, Andor's eyes glanced over his left arm, which if it was exposed, one would notice it was prothetic and laced with cortosis, a material that could temporarily resist the energy of a lightsaber... and cause one to short out. At the end of his arm, where his left hand should be, was a Neuro-shock hand.*
*Andor closed his eyes, soaking in the power of the Darkside.*
*Whomever would find him here was the next to be sacrificed on the flaming altar that stood erect in the middle of the ziggurat.*
Darth Vastator ascended the Ziggurat, idly pondering the Sith obsession with Korriban - a tainted world even by Sith standards. A peculiar Sith Lord, Vastator felt little desire to drink deeply of the dark, throbbing energies, though he did embrace them, for he sensed his opponent had already arrived to the top of this monument.
On his belt was the curved silver and gold hilt of his lightsaber, glinting in the harsh sunlight of the Sith homeworld. Clothed in a fashion similar to the Jedi, Vastator wore black Jedi style robes, with a black cloak. It was a choice that had confused many in the Sith's career, but he had never deigned to explain himself.
He could feel the strength of the Darkside melting through his skin, boiling through his veins as he drank that deadly brew. He would be ready for what was atop this structure, and as he walked onwards he began to plot as to what his first move would be.
Finally he reached the top and he stopped. Quietly he studied Darth Andor. He tilted his head left and then right, before finally shrugging out of his cloak. "Did you have to choose such an inaccessible place to fight? I'm an old man after all."
Before Vastator had even finished speaking, he struck. Andor stood beside that altar, but Vastator was a master of Pyrokinesis.
That technique had many tenants and skills, but Vastator had no need to create fire or heat, simply to expand it. With the Force already in his grasp, it was a simple and easy task to force feed the flame to cause a huge surge of heat and flame to explode towards Darth Andor, and it was clear Vastator hoped to set the other Sith Lord alight.
*Andor stood still as a statue, as Vastator studied him, giving away no clues, no hints as to what Andor was capable of. His eyes to watched Vastator, studying him, making note of the curved lightsaber hilt at his hip. The man that stood before him drew from the Darkside, Andor could sense that much. But something seemed... off. Andor was smart enough to be cautious of what his opponent was capable of, but he was without fear, only feeling the excitement of battle and thirst for blood rising in his chest.*
*The man began to speak, but his words fell on deaf ears, Andor's senses picking up a swell in the Force as his opponent made his first move.*
*The flames from the altar flared to life and began to race towards the Dark Lord. How interesting that Vastator would choose to attack in this fashion, as he was not the first opponent Andor had encountered at the Eternal Pyre who had attempted to attack him with fire. Luxeria, his former apprentice, was also a skilled practitioner in pyrokinesis, and had used it against Andor in their most recent duel together at this very same location.
Fortunately for Andor (who was at the edge of the ziggurat, not next to the altar), there was plenty of space between the approaching flames and himself, giving him precious timeto analyze the situation. So many options, but Andor's mind had been made as a second barely ticked by. Vastator couldn't keep up his attack if his focus was diverted away from his pyrokinesis.... Which meant Andor need to catch him off guard and rapidly press the offense.*
*Darth Andor had a slim figure which was built for speed, a characteristic that he took advantage of. Predicting that he was a faster combatant than Vastator, based off of physical stature alone, Andor began to move towards his opponent. As the flames were almost on him, he dove forward and to his left, rolling against the ground as the orange flames licked at the air above him, the heat threatening to choke him. Andor came out of his roll in a crouch, resting on his right knee, pistol in two-handed grip with his right hand on the trigger (having withdrawn it as he rolled). His aim was steady and precise as he fired three swift shots, red blaster bolts screaming forth from the barrel at Andor's unarmed opponent. The first shot was aimed for Vastator's torso, while the second shot was aimed slightly to Vastator's left, and the third shot aimed slightly to his right in an attempt to limit his opportunities to evade.*
*If Andor had to guess, he would judge the distance between himself and Vastator (after his roll) to be approximately 20 feet, giving his opponent only milliseconds to react.*
Vastator grinned with feral delight as Andor started shooting at him. He didn't move at all, save for his hand to jerk upwards. The single shot aimed at him smashed into his hand with a great puff of smoke and a small flash of blue light. Unfortunately, though he had succeeded in catching the bolt, it had been coming on him fast, and he had caught it with the tips of his fingers, and the force of the shot had bruised them painfully. Aàaàa A Blaster bolt wouldn't fuel much, but a DL-44 was powerful, and it would, at least, become a fairly decent attack.
Even as the residue for the smoke faded, fortifying the energy from the blaster shot with the Force, Vastator released a burst of solid white energy, so hot that it literally seared the air around it.
Essentially condensed electrical and heat energy, it sped straight towards Andor's chest at something like the speed of lightning, which was around 750 miles an hour. Even if Andor dodged it completely, there was plenty of chance for him to still be caught by a stray strand of electricity - though that would be but a painful jolt - or for the heat to burn him.
Vastator desperately hoped he would throw himself off the Ziggurat....
*Fortunately for Andor, he never stayed in one place: was always on the move. As Andor fired the third shot, he could feel the Force peaking around his opponent yet again.... Vastator was coming on strong.... which was good. It meant that he would tire out long before Andor at the pace they were going... And then Andor could go in for the kill.*
*As Vastator hurled the mass of energy at Andor, he would notice that Andor was already in mid-roll, having pushed off of his right leg, launching his body to his forward and to the left, again, working to continuously eat away at the distance between himself and his opponent. His left shoulder tucked as he hit the ground, rolling gracefully, feeling the mass of energy pass by where he had been just an instant before.... His black cloak trailed behind him, it's tail caught in the burst, the intense heat instantly setting it ablaze.*
*The Sith popped up, standing tall, his left arm toward Vastator, his hand clenching into a fist.*
*Then he pulled.*
*But he didn't pull at Vastator, as he hoped his opponent would expect. Immediately, the two stone spears behind Vastator (one on each corner of the ziggurat, so probably his four and eight o'clock positions) came to life, launching at lethal speeds through Andor's telekinetic grip, hoping to skewer the man who stood before him, as Andor would guide them through the Force to stay on target, should Vastator choose to evade.*
*As his left hand pulled, Andor's right hand squeezed the trigger of his pistol once more, the distance between the two of them smaller now, around 16 feet. The crimson bolt seared for his opponent's chest, hoping to distract him and steal his concentration to prevent another counterattack through the Force.*
Rather than try to evade, Vastator went forwards, as he realised what Andor was trying to do. Throwing himself towards and to the side of the blaster bolt - which grazed his side and caused a painful, oozing burn - he desperately grasped at Force Speed and, drawing his lightsaber as he went, used it to propel himself over the short distance into a cruel and fast thrust aiming for Andor's belly, which quickly drew back into an upwards slice in an attempt to take off the Sith's blaster arm.
It was the only chance he had to save himself from a skewering, after all.
*Finally. Andor has spun his web and Vastator had taken the bait, falling into the Sith Master’s trap. As everything unfolded, Andor could feel the heat begin to increase as the flames licked at his cloak, seeking to crawl higher and higher. But Andor knew the fight would be over before it burned through the thick cloth, and then through his underpaying tunic.*
*Vastator moved in, engaging Andor which his blade, but Andor too had willed the Force through his body, speeding his movements to match, it not outmatch, Vastator’s own speed. Andor’s left arm came around in a counter-clockwise swat, making contact with Vastator’s lightsaber in its intial thrust. As the blade was batted to Andor’s left, Vastator would find that the cortosis lacing in Andor’s prothetic arm would cause his blade to most likely short out temporarily. It was a move that Andor’s arm could only withstand once or twice before it would be cleaved in two, the lightsaber resistant metal only being resistant and not impervious.*
*With Vastator’s weapon swatted aside, deactivated or not, it left his entire torso completely exposed. Still under the fruitful and enriching power of hi Force Speed, Andor stepped into his opponent’s guard (keeping his left arm between himself and his opponent’s blade in case) and jammed the barrel of his pistol towards Vastator’s stomach, pumping the trigger to release the final three shots at point blank range (hopefully) into the man’s guts.*
So a quick and excitingly paced duel and rather a joy to read. I will say good job to both gentlemen here, but just a couple of things I would like to point out to you both so that in the future you both can be even better duelists as we all have areas in which we can improve.
Darth Andor Excellent use of your blaster and the distance as well as playing the longer, more strategic game to set your opponent up, however, keep in mind that at the distance you were at from your opponent, it would have been extremely difficult for you to recognize your opponent's use of Force Speed and then counter with your own before he was on you.
Darth Vastator I can really tell that you are a quick learner with this and I love your use of the environment to start things off. For you, I would just like to remind you that Force Powers do tak time to build and execute, especially when they are so significantly different from one another. The use of Pyrokinesis in this instance was okay, however the switch into the absorb/tutaminus in order to counter the blaster fire from Andor was just too quick to be effective. As I said earlier, when powers are so different from one another and used in succession, an increase in preparation and build up is necessary.
