No Power Gaming/God Modding - A player can be described as a powergamer if he or she presumes or declares that his or her own action against another player character is successful without giving the other player character the freedom to act on his or her own prerogative.
No Meta Gaming - A player's use of real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game to determine their character's actions, when said character has no relevant knowledge or awareness under the circumstances.
Be Respectful - Attacks on writers is absolutely intolerable. Respect other writers and what they are trying to do. Don't be a jerk.
Post Cutting - Know the time and place to cut another writer's post short. Be respectful and respond accordingly. The Battle Arena Staff are writers too; we understand that sometimes a response to an early action of a post may negate everything else in the post, but it shouldn't become commonplace that everything a writer is trying to do with their character becomes "all for naught."
Be Descriptive and Clear - Ensure your post are detailed enough that your opponent can comprehend what exactly your character is doing. If you are going to use a move that would require a preparation or charge time, be sure to give it that proper preparation. For example a Spear of Midnight Black or Force Storm will take more time and preparation to prepare than a Force Push or Choke.
If you're unsure of what your opponent is doing, please contact them and ask. PMing your judge should be a last resort. In the event that your opponent is actually rude and a jerk out of character, that would be cause for a last resort. If the issue does not resolve civilly between you and the other writer, allow the arbitrating party to mediate. Do not seek a resolution by other means. The battle arena staff is here for you. We're neutral, and no one here is going out of their way to screw you over. The judge's word is final. Except in extremely rare scenarios, there is no cause for, nor will you be given a re-judgment.
In light of some question about what constitutes PG, and concerning use and over use of the Force:
A Force Sensitive, particularly a trained one may use the Force in combat in such a way as to attack, defend, or gain an advantage. Some specificially specialized users (i.e. Jedi Consulars) and persons of Master level may utilize it slightly more often than lesser users, however, it is not to replace the use of weapons or martial combat
Citing the example of duels from the movies: Jedi and Sith alike are seen using their lightsabers as the primary form of combat, with intermittent usage of the Force in situations where they believe it to be advantageous, or where not doing so would result in extreme harm to their person or to others. The reason for this is established as exhaustion. A Force Adept may have access to a font of unlimited power, but they are themselves limited. Therefore, repeated usage of the Force without obvious fatigue, or usage of multiple powers at once for more than two posts consecutive, will be considered Powergaming.
Additionally, physical stamina is to be considered when the duel drags on in excess of a page, possibly a page and a half- possibly more quickly, depending on how much a duelist exerts themselves, the weight of weapons and/or armor encumbering them, their conditioning, and other miscellaneous factors. No two characters are the same, and what meets this criteria varies depending- the burden falls to the judge to determine if an infraction has been made.
Concerning Post Cuts: Be judicious. If it is possible to interrupt an attack, then do so- but if it does not make sense,or the content of your cut would be physically impossible, then you may not utilize a Post Cut.
