The second planet in orbit of the star Rallt, Ralltiir had twenty-eight moons and three continents that wrapped around the planet. A major financial center in the galactic economy, Ralltiir was a member world of the Galactic Republic but remained largely neutral in galactic politics to ensure that the finances of its inhabitants remained safe from political influences and war.
Dorian sat in the back of a shuttle flying high into orbit around the planet. Around him were 4 other hired guns from the planet of Raltiir, all of them also non human, all of them experienced fighters because of the plague. Beneath his own armour none of them would know that he was humanoid, and if they did there was no showing it. He had shown no symptoms of the plague despite being in the system for more than a week. The man he had met in the diner was a human. How he survived was beyond Dorians comprehension but the job was a job.
Normally Dorian would only accept money for people, but there just werent enough people interested in his line of work. Maybe if he had been a PI it would be different. Instead he had been hired to board a ship above the planet. Since the plague had occurred more and more just floated aimlessly above the planet. This was not the first time that Dorain had seen this and no doubt there were worlds all around the galaxy with junk cluttering their upper atmosphere and space around.
As the ships docked together Dorian took point, unsure of what to expect he had brought enough gear to fight off a few dozen Crazies. This particular ship, the Point Break had been floating over the planet for two weeks, all calls to it had gone unanswered and the planet did not have the manpower to do anything beyond quarantine.
As the atmospheres between the two ships matched, and the doors hissed open he walked through the door
Clear lets go.
The others pushed by him and took up their own positions. Having looked at a schematic before entering the four began their short walk to the cargo hold to ensure that the cargo was still intact.
The corridor before the cargo bay was by far the worst one they quartet had encountered thus far. The plague had clearly taken hold on the crew and those that had not died from its effects right away began a terrible brutal attack on those not infected and indeed the ship itself. Two bodies were in the hallway the first seemingly one of the infected had bled out. Before he had though the damage he had done to the second body was terrible. The species was no longer identifiable nor even the gender. The skin had been peeled back and removed, the entrails had been looped through the hanging wires that had been exposed at some point.
Although Dorian had been able to keep his meal down the Selkath in the group was not able too and his stomach contents soon added to the mix. Inside the bay was far worse. Clearly some sort of defense had been mounted and failed. Much of the crew had died here, fighting for their lives.
Bending down Dorian picked up a pair of pistols on the ground near a dead Ithorian, on the handles were the symbol KD. Firing one of its rounds into a dead body what was left of the flesh started to melt away after a moment. Clearly they had some sort of poison inside. Tucking them into a duffel bag for later he looked around. The others were doing similar things. With much of the universe in chaos many of the dealers had disappeared or died, and new weapons were only laying around to be taken. Plus the contract stipulated that the cargo and the ship belonged to the one who ordered it. Everything else was free.
The same Selkath who had spilled his stomach contents a few moments before started to look at the crates. Opening some, he found credit blocks inside. Mostly useless on most worlds now. Everything worked off barter for the time being until some semblance of order was reestablished. Moving on to the next he found the real reason for them being here.
Gold. Platinum. Silver. These things were always amoung the most valued commodities in the galaxy and seemed to always hold their value. The rest of the cargo was forgotten as preperations were made to ensure it was all here.
As with all lucky breaks Dorian had his when he was least expecting it. Once all the cargo was secured and accounted for Dorian was sent to the bridge, it was a relatively short walk based on the size of the ship but it took him away from the rest of the men on board. As he made his way Dorian passed by the crew quarters, looking inside he saw that several of the infected crew were still alive.
Activating the cloaking device on his armour Dorian picked up a random pipe off the ground and walked around the corner swinging it against a wall before throwing the pipe down the hall. Almost on cue the horde of the infected individuals ran down the hall towards the noise bypassing the invisible man. Minutes passed before he heard the screams of surprise before a short gun battle.
Creeping down the hall Dorian was happy to see that the rest of his allies were dead, as with all but two of the infected. Or maybe not happy but surprised at the ease with which they had been dispatched. Aiming his new KD-30 at the first of the two remaining infected he fired at center of mass the bullet initially doing very little damage despite dropping the man. It took a few seconds for the acid to eat its way into a position where its burning nature was revealed. In those seconds though the second shot had been made taking out the right leg of the second individual.
Dorian hoped that his suits filters and his bodies natural immunity to toxins would be enough to keep the plague at bay. He had no wish to become a mindless murder bot. Picking up the second man the suits internal servos fought against the raw strength of the man he held. Tossing him into the ship that had brought the quartet Dorian removed the seal connecting the two ships. As they detached Dorian went back to the bridge and made the needed arrangements before the ship jumped into hyperspace leaving the planet far behind.
