Headquarters to the Headmaster. A large desk sits in the center of a large carpeted room. The back wall is made of tintable glass, providing an overview of the surrounding area and academy grounds to include the combatives training grounds. Busts of all the previous Headmasters of Carida Academy line the bronze colored walls. Two statues stand guard over the door, upon entry, the right is a statue of a Republic Commando, on the left a Republic Officer to symbolize the types of trainings provided by the Academy of Carida.
Tess found herself standing in front of the Headmaster’s office wondering what she had done wrong this time. The rules of the training had been like they always were: to bring down her opponent without killing him. And she had done just that, why she was here was baffling. Tess looked down at her uniform, made sure everything was presentable and in regs. She didn’t want to look disheveled in front of the Headmaster
“Headmaster Cardiff will see you now Cadet Darkstrider.” Stated the security guard standing at the doorway after his commlink beeped. The doors opened automatically as she stepped forward and Tess entered the Headmaster’s office. The room looked exactly the same as the last time she was there; the center of the room displayed the Headmaster’s desk, busts lined the walls, and the Headmaster himself stood looking out over the Academy grounds.
“Sir. Cadet Darkstrider reports as ordered.” She said as she snapped to attention and waited for his reply to put her at ease. But the command never came.
“Cadet, you must be wondering why I have called you here.” Cardiff said continuing to look out of the glass wall.
“Yessir.”
“I called you here, not because you are in trouble. But because I want to place you in our discontinued branch of training here at Carida Academy. Since the creation of the Empire the Clone Commando Training Regiment was shut down and Imperial officers were all that Carida produced. Now that the New Republic has taken over the Academy, and I am in charge, I want to reinstate the Republic Commando Training Program. And you are my first choice amongst all the cadets.”
“Sir, I-”
“I am not finished Cadet Darkstrider.” Cardiff turned to look at her sternly, “Republic Commandos consisted of teams of four in most instances. Occasionally there would be a case of solo commandos, but that was rare.” Cardiff walked to his desk and pressed a few keys on his computer. “I have compiled a list of secondary cadets, of whom you will chose three to be on your team. You will then train together, eat together, sleep together, and shit together until your training is completed here at the Academy. Your team will spearhead the rebirth of our commando program. Do you understand?”
“Sir. How long do I have to decide on my squad?” Tess asked as what felt like a ton of bricks had been placed on her shoulders. “And why me?”
“You will have three days. Until that day you are suspended from all training activities. You will have access to the chow hall, the lavatories, the library, and the barracks.” Cardiff walked up to Tess with a data pad in hand, “You will come back to me with your selection in seventy-two hours.” he handed her the data and motioned to the door. “Dismissed.”
Tess took the data pad, saluted Headmaster Cardiff, performed an about-face, and marched out of his office. After the doors closed behind her Tess sighed an anxious sigh. “How on earth am I going to decide who to choose out of the ENTIRE Academy?” she thought to herself as she walked back to her barracks.
