Rules: Battle Arena Standard, Top Ten Force Powers
I take a long, slow breath and tilt my face toward the sun, basking in its gentle light. The sound of chirping birds and the gentle rush of the water lapping at the top of my boots fills my ears, and for a moment,I know bliss. How strange to think that only weeks ago I'd been on the verge of oblivion, drifting with no direction. Ah, but now the universe makes sense again, and the fire in my heart has been renewed. I won't stop until my goal is realized: absolute power.
A quick scan of the garden shows that I am, for now, its sole inhabitant. My opponent, whomever they might be, had yet to arrive, and that was good. It gave me a chance to check over my inventory, and gather my strength for the coming fight. Such a luxury would've made no difference to me in the past- I didn't care if I won or lost, after all. Now, I utilize every advantage I have.
Standing at six feet and a hundred and seventy pounds, my new body may very well be the biggest advantage I possess. Casting off my old, failing vessel has revitalized me, and given me a more effective medium through which to wreak havoc.
Perdition, my saberstaff, is held loosely in my right hand, gripped just a few inches above one of the emitters. The eighteen inch phrik hilt extended up to my elbow, the cool metal laying against my forearm. Its surface is smooth, lacking the plethora of activation studs usually set in the hilts of sabers. Instead, Perdition is linked to my cybernetic implant. Activating and deactivating the dual-phase blades is as simple as flexing a muscle- it requires no thought, and is as effortless as a flick of the forefinger.
Both of my hands are encased in phrikite Crushgaunts- Mandalorian-designed armored gloves that give me the ability to effortlessly rend flesh and bone. Sith runes sprawl across their faces, the sinister black lettering a sharp contrast to the shining silver of the phrik.
Taking a deep breath, I draw the dark side to me, gathering its energy in an unhurried, almost lazy manner. Using it would be a last resort, but preparation is key, after all.
Running my left hand over my shaved skull, I narrowed my eyes on the opposite side of the pool and awaited my opponent's inevitable arrival.

Okay Kirwin, welcome to the Battle Arena! The goal here is to walk you through the basics of a duel in a fun, relaxed setting where we can converse on the finer points the battle out of character, and help get you ready to step into a true-blue challenge match.
First thing's first: you're opening post. Generally, you want to accomplish three things with your first post in a duel.
1: Describe your character, or at least their general appearance. This gives your opponent a frame of reference for who they're fighting. While the color of your eyes aren't likely to be a factor in a duel, your height, weight, and species may come into play.
2: Describe your position, and your inventory. If you're making the first post in the duel, you can 'call dibs' on whatever spot you want. If not, you need to describe your position in relation to your opponent, so that it's clear where everyone's starting out, and how much distance there is before the fists can start flying. As for weapons and armor, it's considered good manners to go into detail on what exactly you're bringing to the fight. It saves your opponent from having to dig through your character sheet, and prevents any surprise hand grenades from magically entering the fray.
3: Tap into the force. This one isn't mandatory, but is a good idea nonetheless. Using force powers in the arena requires focus and preparation; casting powers without the appropriate build up, or casting too many too fast, is a good way to get points taken away by the Judge.
Side note: my posts are about ninety percent fluff. The Battle Arena isn't a writing competition, it's a duel. Producing a moving story or beautiful prose are absolutely appreciated, especially by the judges who take the time to read through them, but they won't count toward your win. What will is superior tactics, conservative force use, and well described movements and spacial awareness.
On that note, everything that pertains to the fight, and isn't just narrative in my posts, will be in bold, that way you don't have to sift through my inner monologue to find my move
Running along the high wall of the garden Kirwin knew the Sith was nearby, “I was only a knight before exile, so a face to face confrontation will be difficult. I’ll try to keep him at range for now”He thought trying to find a place that would hide most of his two-ten six-foot one build. Holding his DC-17m rifle in hand Kirwin made a mental note of his other weapons, “DL-44? Check, Lightsaber? Got that too.”
Kirwin finally set up behind a pillar on the wall to the upper right and in front of where the Sith stood, waiting for him to show his face. Peaking around the pillar for a second, the HUD of his cybernetic eye showed him he was about fifteen feet from the garden floor, and his target was in the center of the garden right behind the main fountain. Kirwin could sense the Darkness in his target, hopefully he wouldn’t need to call upon the Force. Taking of his cloak, Kirwin left the hood on to keep most of his facial features hidden, looking down at his newly painted Stormtrooper breastplate Kirwin admired his job for a short second before acting on a brash, and most likely foolish decision. Stepping around the pillar, and leveling his rifle at the figure, he called out to the Sith and let his presence be known to him, “Hey Shiney! We’ve got you surrounded! Give up now and we won’t kill you!” Kirwin prayed to the Force the Sith wouldn’t call his bluff.

I think I hit all three points, I don't know if that writing is too quick for a post, but it allowed for some prep time along with initial contact. Kirwin is/was a jedi but still hasn't decided to keep his jedi ways or not. and uses a lightsaber as a last resort.
I'm kept waiting several more minutes before my foe finally reveals himself, leaning from behind one of the pillars that ring the garden wall. A rifle is leveled at me, and a threat issued. For a long moment I am unmoving, content to study the arrival: about my height, weight indeterminate; he is hooded and armored, at least with a breastplate, though at this range I cannot identify its composition despite the lessons Ruy has been giving me in metallurgy. A glint of what might be an optical cybernetic is visible within the shadow of his hood, but his facial features are obscured. A pity; I don't get to battle many people for supremacy these days, and I enjoy watching their expressions throughout. It helps me immerse myself more fully in the experience, and savor the brief rush of adrenaline that comes with my inevitable victory.
No point in dwelling on the disappointment, though. I need to focus on how to gain a positional advantage- which my opponent is in indisputable possession of. A ranged weapon, the force, an elevated position from which to open fire, an armored center mass, and (most likely) enhanced eyesight. This may just prove interesting after all, though even with all of these things going for him, I can still tell he is no match. All it takes is a cursory probe through the force, a gentle reading of his aura, to tell me that I am a god compared to this mortal. It isn't his fault, really- I have only two equals in the entire universe, after all, but his audacity will cost him his life nonetheless.
'We have you surrounded,' he says. 'I certainly hope so,' I think to myself. You are an insect confronting the heel poised to snuff you out; now, your colony will simply die with you.
At my whim, the forward end of Perdition erupts, the crimson blade extending to the standard length setting. My right foot slides backward, and my right hand raises up, lightsaber held in a vertical guard before my center mass, hilt at my navel. The Way of the Mynock is exceptionally well suited to deflecting blaster bolts, and I am exceptionally skilled in its use. Armored or not, a single blaster bolt would carry enough kinetic charge to knock my opponent from the wall, and from there I would have an easier time closing in for the kill. But I must wait for that opening to present itself, and so my focus turns to drawing yet more of the dark side to myself, storing its tainted energy for future use.

There is no right or wrong flow for a dueling post- long and flowery, or short and practical, it's all up to the duelist and their individual styles and preferences. You did well in hitting all the points I laid out for you, giving me a clear description of your character and armament, as well as describing your actions well. Clear and concise movements as well as a good understanding of basic physics and SW tech, as well as spacial awareness, will always be the biggest factors in your duels. If you keep those in mind while coming up with your strategies, you'll be well on your way to becoming unstoppable!
“And he didn’t fall for it. Just great.” Kirwin said to himself as the Sith raised and ignited his lightsaber. Since he no longer had the element of surprise Kirwin needed a new plan. No smoke grenades, no detonators for a distraction, only his basters and his last resort: his lightsaber. Quickly analyzing his surroundings, Kirwin couldn’t find anything in the flat garden that would give him an advantage. The Sith, he noticed, had taken a blaster-defensive stance, meaning it would be difficult to take ranged action against him, especially with his limited arsenal. But what his opposition didn’t know was that he had an ace-in-the-hole that could prove useful if the Sith got too close. For now, the Sith just stood, guard ready, and waiting for something; his move perhaps?
He had to make his shots count if he was to win this fight. Sighting in again, he repositioned his rifle reticle from the Sith’s shiny head to his lightsaber’s hilt. Destroying his opponent’s weapon would finish this fight before it started. But this was a Sith, he had to be unpredictable, simply firing at the lightsaber wouldn’t do. Kirwin fired his rifle in quick succession; first, just shy of the Sith’s right shoulder, then at his feet, then above his head, and finally at the lightsaber hilt.
OOC Chat:
Is this type of attack to presumptuous? I'm a little worried that something like this could be called fowl play, giving you minimal time to react to me. Kind of like in an RPG like D&D where you try to make to many attacks in one turn? Or am I thinking about this too hard?
EDIT: This attack is meant to distract your character and attempt to destroy his lightsaber or just disarm him. I wrote it predicting that Ishmael would block every shot at Kirwin would see where his lightsaber hilt is on the final shot.
No more words, then. Good. I feel the danger prickle along the back of my neck before he fires- some latent form of precognition, I'm sure, though I'm not actively using the technique (which isn't to say that immersing myself in the force so fully as to reap the passive benefits isn't a drain in and of itself, just to a lesser degree).
He fires a bolt at my right shoulder, and I react, slapping the blaster bolt into the water to my right with a simple flick of my lightsaber blade, like swatting a fly. I accomplish this without doing anything more than angling the blade, so I'm not forced to move the hilt out of center guard. When the second shot comes, aimed for my head, I simply return Perdition to vertical guard, and let the bolt streak off to my left after ricocheting off the crimson plasma.
The third blaster bolt I'm unable to anticipate, and it strikes its target true- slamming into the center of my saberstaff's hilt, where it dissipates against the impervious phrikite. The kinetic force it carries was enough to cause it to shudder in my grip, but that was it.
Ah, a clever assassin, him. And you can't blame him for trying, no? If Perdition were made of ordinary metal, I'd be holding a ruined bar of melted steel right now, and defenseless. Unfortunately for him, I sprang for the best of the best when my saberstaff was created...and its sturdy exterior is by no means the most special thing about Perdition. If this stranger lives long enough, perhaps he'll learn a few more of the weapon's secrets.
But I can't stand here dithering all day. It's clear I'm not likely to find any success with my current strategy. He's too far away for me to accurately reflect a bolt back to, and his rifle is built for accuracy. Eventually, one of those bolts would slip through my guard, and I'd be finished.
I took a deep breath and pulled the dark side to me, my left hand stretching out and curling into a fist. I bent the force to my will, using a Force Grip to seize my opponent's right ankle, and attempt to drag him down from the wall and into the pool, where he would be at my mercy.
OOC Chat:
There's no need to worry about too many actions in one post- at least within reason. As long as they're all part of a combination that makes sense, they're fine. Post cuts exist for that reason- your opponent doesn't have to stand still and allow you to complete all the actions you describe in your post, they can jump in and interrupt you if an opportunity presents itself.
Through the scope Kirwin saw the lightsaber was unaffected by the shot, meaning it was constructed either Phrik or Beskar metal making it invulnerable to even other lightsabers, meaning even his rifle will have no effect on it. Kirwin desperately tried to think of another way to get at the Sith when he felt tendrils of the corrupted Force wrap themselves around his right leg and yank him off of his perch on the wall. “Not good! Not good!” he thought as he was led by his ankle toward the center of the garden, and the Sith. Luckily, he had not released his rifle as he was pulled off the wall, and Kirwin knew that even the strongest Force user had to keep concentration in order to us the Force to do anything, he also knew he only had seconds to react. Hanging upside down by his ankle Kirwin arched his back in order to see the Sith, aimed down the side of his DC-17m barrel, forgoing the scope, and fired a shot at the Sith’s direction. As he fell the six feet toward certain injury, Kirwin released his rifle, tucked his knees to his chest, nudging himself with the Force ever so slightly, just enough to land heavily on his hands and feet like a Loth-cat. Kirwin stood up and luckily, didn’t feel any major pains from his fall, just a slight twinge in his left ankle. Being on an even playing field with the Sith meant that Kirwin would most likely be getting a close look at that shiny head. With that in mind, he started calling for the Force to come to his aid for the impending duel. Kirwin did not draw his blade yet, he wanted that to be a surprise still. He now stood about seven feet from the opposite end of the pool, which appeared to be only three meters in length. The Sith appeared to have recovered fairly quickly from his desperate shot. Kirwin knelt down and picked up his rifle to keep the guise of bounty hunter even though he knew he would eventually have to draw his lightsaber. "I know you're using Form Three. But with these jets in your way, I've finally got a full advantage over you" Kirwin whispered to himself. Just as he planned on keeping his lightsaber a secret, Kirwin also hoped to keep his meditation a secret by effortlessly leveling his rifle at the Sith once more and, using the heat vision capability of his cybernetic eye to target the Sith’s center mass, fired one blast through the pool’s jet streams causing small clouds of vapor where the bolt passed through the water.
OOC Chat:
Now I don't have much to comment on this reply as I did with my others because I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm not sure if I can use small Force moves without premeditation? Also I'm unsure on if I can do small tasks while "meditating" for Force-based moves?
