The first punch hit Andor's head, and immediately, Andor's vision went cloudy. Then, there was a second punch, which threatened to knock the wind from his lungs. Damn it, this was taking an unexpected turn.
His concentration broken, the Sith Lord's lightsaber deactivated and fell lifelessly into the water as Andor brought his right arm up to protect his head. His arm was positioned so that his bicep rested next to his head, protecting the right side of it, while the elbow bent, allowing the forearm and hand to cover most of the backside of Andor's head and neck. This left, primarily, only the left side of Andor's head exposed.
He didn't have a lot of time. The pain was wracking up with each hit that alleviated Andor's shielding arm, although it took the brunt of most of the hits from Adi's right fist. The pain, the anger, the fear of dying, began to well up inside of the Sith Lord. It began to boil, as the evil within him churned into a rage.
Adi was bouncing on top of him, and there was a steady rhythm in his punches where the weight was temporarily lifted with each bounce. Man, was he horny or something? Timing was everything, and at the precise moment Adi's weight lifted, Andor pushed up with his prothetic arm, its mechanical strength enough to hold Adi's weight at bay for a moment or two. Andor quickly brought his legs in beneath him and pushed up with all of his might, his arms reaching out behind him to grab anything they could, whether it be his opponent's clothing, a striking arm, anything.... Whatever they grabbed, they would latch onto and pull as Andor's legs rose, keeping his head low in an attempt to throw Adi forward and off of him.
Andor's face broke the surface of the water and he gasped for air as he fought to throw Adi off of him.
There were a lot of things happening, seemingly at once.
Andor covered his head, and Adi's right hand adjusted to grab at the man's right wrist, as left continued to aim a couple of shots at the side of the darksider's head.Matango could feel the power building, the force pooling....and there was movement now. Andor's left arm shot out underneath, along with his knees. Nearly mimicking Andor, Adi's left hand moved to the middle of Andor's back, gripping at anything it could to hold on tightly.
A millisecond after the sith started to bring his knees underneath him, Adi drew -his- knees up as well, pulling in as tightly as he could. When Andor would launch from the ground, Matango would allow it...but as they would reach about halfway up, Adieumus would throw his weight backward, using his knees, and the man's back as leverage. He was attempting to continue pulling the man backward, straight back down into the water. If it would succeed, Adi would land so that he would hit the water first, and roll backward, putting Andor right back into the same position as he had started in...face down in the water.
The slice on his ribs was agonizing. It was, of course, cauterized for the most part...but every movement he made sent shocks of pain through Matango's body. The knees coming up, the punches being thrown? Each one caused cracks and tears in the hastily-burned flesh. Blood was now starting to soak his tshirt, sending dark red drops into the water below. Adrenaline was surging through the former Jedi's veins, pushing him through the pain, and keeping him moving...but it would not last forever. Right now, it was pure survival instinct driving him on.
He would have to hang on like a spider monkey if he hoped to survive this. He had the proverbial tiger by the tail, and he was just hoping it didn't turn around and bite him in the ass....
This fight was transcending into something that neither combatant had foreseen. Now, there were no strategic tactics being played to outsmart the other. But now, it was only a battle of wills, with both combatants relying only on their instincts and the guidance of Force to survive.
Andor felt Adi's right hand grip the Sith's wrist, as Andor had originally reached up to protect himself from Adi's punches. Now, he was coming up to stand at full height, taking another hit to the left side of his head. Stars burned bright in his vision but the Sith had been through worse... much worse. He felt Adi shifting his weight, his legs coming up against Andor' s lower back, the lightsider's left hand gripping the back of his tunic and pinching his skin. The pinch, although harmless, was irritating, the sting making Andor's mind bristle. Latching on to the minor inconvenience, Andor ground himself in his pain and let his frustration and his anger continue to consume him.
But this was where things got tricky. Andor's intent had been to lift his buttocks into the air first, and as he did, he pulled his right arm in front of him, hoping to use Adi's hold as leverage into flipping the man over his shoulders and into the water in front of him. Apparently, the former Jedi had other plans. As Andor pulled forward keeping his head low and his legs straight, Adi pulled backwards and at first, the two opposing forces were negated. With Andor and Adi exhibiting approximately the same muscular strength and body stature, it would take a lot of work for one to over come the other.
Andor extended his left leg behind him, using it as support to bear the extra weight as he slowly found himself being pulled upright.... only because he let it happen. He stood there, his face, his hair, everything about him soaked to the bone by the water that came up to his shins. It was cool and rejuvenating, a stark contrast to the warmth he felt in his muscles, the pounding he felt in his head, and the heavy, quickened pace of his breaths.
He stood there, upright, with Adi on his back: a piggy-back gone wrong. "Get. Off." His voice was deeper than usual, consumed in the fiery anger and hatred he felt towards Adi. But even before he finished speaking, the Force inside him came out in the form of a Force Repulse. The 360 concussive elements of the telekinetic attack were strong enough to break Adi's hold on Andor's clothing, damage or disrupt internal organs, and throw him backwards.
A true contest. One that would go down in the history books on Naboo. And although Andor had only performed a handful of simple, basic applications of telekinesis, the Force Repulse was the first major use in the force he had used, and as such, he began to feel it. Hopefully, he had just gained himself precious moments to collect himself and assess any damage Adi might have sustained.
Adi was along for the ride as Andor stood up, holding on, and tucked tightly. This was to keep the man from getting a grip on Matango, and pulling him off. It was about Adi's only chance to stay in this thing. His left hand was dug as deep as he could get it into the Sith's back, and his right was wrapped around Andor's right wrist tightly.
The former Jedi heard the growl of words from the darksider, and braced himself. He had felt the growing power within the other man, building from before the point where Adi had tossed him into the water. Whatever it was, Matango knew it wasn't gonna be good. He tucked his head down, and tightened himself into as tight a ball as he could on the man's back. There was a spike of power, a familiar feeling to the Arkanian, and he did the only thing he knew. As the repulse was released, Adi projected his power back toward it, in a power known as force barrier. From his compact state, he didn't have to cover himself as much as he normally would. He felt the repulse hit, and start to push his body away from the darksider, but then, Matango felt the barrier hold, and push the repulse away...
...Right back at Andor possibly, and at point blank range, no less. It might NOT do that, but the kinetic energy had to go somewhere....
As the repulse had somewhat dislodged Adi from the Sith's back, the former Jedi allowed himself to drop his feet back down to the ground. He did not, however, let go of the wrist he had so eagerly sought a few seconds ago. Indeed, he yanked downward on the arm as he dropped, hoping to pull the man off balance yet again. At the moment his now half-crouched form touched the ground, he threw his right knee at the back of Andor's right knee, hoping to take the man off his feet, and put him back under the water. Coupled with the hard yank on the arm, the Sith should crumple fairly easily.
It was effective, sure, but the reflect had really tapped deep into Adi's reserves. Between the early attack, and the speed, he had little time to recover before having to yet again dip into the vast well of the force, and it was rapidly exhausting him. If it hadn't been for the water dripping from his clothing, the sweat would have done it instead. He was starting to feel his breath come in heavier and heavier pants as he struggled to keep up with the fatigue setting in.....
It was then that his eyes fell upon a solution. Should this attack succeed, there was a way to end this rapidly.
The repulse expanded around him in the blink of an eye. And it crash against Adi's barrier like water on rock.
Suddenly, Andor felt like he had lost two hundred pounds as Adi was pushed backwards and off of his body, however, the grip on Andor's wrist somehow remained strong and unyielding. The instant lack of weight was a welcomed feeling, and it was definitely a relief. Throughout Andor's nearly forty years of training, backing all the way back to his tutelage under Jen Taral Phantom and the self proclaimed Sith'Ari Feral, Andor had been submitted to the most extreme and rigorous training exercises.
No, not training exercises: survival conditioning. One false move during any of his sparring matches, practicing of lightsaber sequences: one tiny mistake, and he would have paid for it with his life. The Arx Nox Noctis was brutal and only the strongest of the Sith survived to make their mark on history. The weak perished and were forgotten.
The point of this is that there was one exercise that truly built Andor for his unmatched speed. Whenever he sparred or worked out, he was forced to do so with balls and chains hooked to his ankles, weighing him down tremendously to hinder his speed, his precision, and his ability to utilize his preferred lightsaber form of Ataru. It was a practice he still held himself accountable with to this day: whenever he had the luxury and free time to enjoy a sparring match in a training arena. For months, even years, he had been kicked around, knocked down and knocked out, unable to overcome his handicap, until he soon realized that his anger and frustration bore the fruit to his success. Only when he had proved himself by rising in the ranks of his peers had Phantom removed his weights.... And he was free, weightless... limitless. A demon unmatched in speed, overwhelming anyone who crossed him.
Adi's weight lifted, and Andor was free.
His body turned clockwise as he stepped back, his right arm (that is being held) extending to its full length to put as much distance as possible between him and Adi. Since they were connected, and the way Andor turned, to any innocent bystander, it would look as if they were dancing. Now, he stood with his right shoulder to Adi, the Sith Lord's body bladed, his right arm extended in front of him. Adi was already pulling on his arm, unsuccessfully trying to yank Andor off balance as it would take more than a yank on his arm to unbalance him. Andor started to drop into a crouch, following the pull's direction, while simultaneously attempting to wrestle his arm out of Adi's grip. The Sith was wet, his skin slippery, and although it wouldn't be impossible for Adi to maintain his grip, it'd take a bit more effort than maybe he was willing to exert.
Especially with what was about to happen next: when Adi's right knee came in.
Andor's left hand, his Neuro-shock hand, moved to intercept the incoming attack in an attempt to grab the incoming knee. Even just a glancing blow against Andor's exposed and open hand would do... As long as there was contact. It seemed unlikely that Adi would be able redirect his knee in time, and would he would find it crashing into Andor's prothetic hand, which would then emit a neuro-shock, instantly shutting down the electrical synapses that sent messages between his right leg and his brain. In other words, Adi's leg would suddenly become dead weight and useless.
So, thanks to both of you for your dedication and patronage to the arena! You're both avid competitors and I hope our judgments can help you to round out your styles and hone you into the cream of the crop like you want to be. That said, I'll start off with my criticism and give you the winner at the end.
First, both of you fouled early on. Andor, simply avoiding the water based attack by jumping felt like a write off, and that's Powergaming. However, I'm not holding it against you because Adi came right back out of frustration a few posts later, when you used the combination of TK and lightsaber.
Adi, you can be more creative in your defenses. Taking one attack and avoiding the other could be turned into something like using the force of one attack to carry you out of range of the other.
Things picked up and got really good toward the end, where Andor scored a great hit with the saber while being grappled. You both handled that pretty well, and Adi gets props for taking a really nasty hit. Andor, what throws me here is where you were being drowned and everything that happened thereafter sort of blurred together.
My opinion here is that taking the drowning hit would have been more favorable for you than trying to fight it. You would have passed out, and several of the last few posts probably wouldn't have happened. It's okay to take a loss humbly- in fact, I probably would have called the saber damage a bigger hit than the drowning, and it could have gone either way.
As is, this match goes to Adieumus.
Thanks to both of you, congratulations, and better luck next time!
