When the Jedi turned and began speaking to him Kirwin realized that the person who stood in front of him was Jedi Master Geir. The words he spoke were filled with wisdom and peace, flowing into Kirwin’s soul calming him and showing him the mysterious ways of the Force. As he continued to speak Kirwin knew that Master Geir might have the answers he sought. Why had he been expelled? What had happened here? What had happened to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant? Where were the other Jedi? Why was his padawan so aggressive towards him? And many more.
When the Jedi Master finished Kirwin deftly removed his hood revealing his face, he had shoulder length hair pulled back into a ponytail, accompanied by a mid-cropped beard. A scar, deep and jagged, traced from his hairline down across his left eye and ended at his jawline. His cybernetic eye was housed in a metal eye socket due to the inability of the medical facilities on Kamino to repair it. His right eye, his good eye, burned blue with a desire to know, and a passion for learning what he could to better himself.
“Master Geir, you may not remember me, I am Kirwin Hass, I was knight to Master Sok Fingu. I was then exiled for things I do not remember.” Kirwin started, and once he began he could not stop, he needed answers, “I came here looking for Jedi Master Lar’wei, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant is destroyed and I thought that maybe he had returned here to his home. But when I flew over the city I saw only destruction, then I found you and your padawan.” Kirwin looked at the Jedi Master with a hope that he had not felt in a long time. Maybe, just maybe he would get the answers he was looking for.
“Master Lar’wei had been on the Jedi Council when I had been expelled from the Order, I figured he could tell me why that had happened. Why is the Jedi Temple destroyed? What happened to the other Jedi? Why did yo-your Padawan attack you?” with his last question Kirwin grew silent, even though the words spoken by Geir had been peace-giving, he still regretted having committed the act. He looked at the Jedi Master finally allowing him to speak again after the barrage of questions.
Geir had expected there to be questions as Kirwin identified himself. They were fully understandable and any being might have a similar barrage to volley his way. However, Kirwin was in a peculiar situation. Kirwin had been exiled from the Order once upon a time - and Geir had sat upon the council that did just that.
Kirwin' trial had been unique and as such, was easy for Geir to recall. Truth be told, Geir had been the one to fight for Kirwin's exile when many of the other members had pleaded to have his connection to the Force severed. Kirwin had simply been an overly zealous apprentice who stepped down a road completely against what the Order had stood for. He called on the Dark Side of the Force to best a pair of Sith that had pinned he and his master down. However, with many "pleasures" the Dark Side of the Force offered, the appeal was simply too much for a young Jedi to turn back from. Once in the caress of the Dark Side, he'd struck out against his Master. For a time, Kirwin had legitimately fallen to the Dark Side and in the state the High Council had been in at the time, there was simply too much uncertainty to allow the young Jedi back.
A certain calm emanated from the Jedi Master as he took in the features of the former Jedi Knight. He had certainly matured physically since last they met, but mentally was another story. Whereas Geir could sense the conviction within the man, the briefness of their meeting thus far, did not allow for a full analysis.
"It appears the affliction that has blighted the galaxy has taken a great many lives with it and unfortunately the Jedi number among them. I felt Lar'wei as he passed and reunited with the Force; he is no longer of this material state, but perhaps you may be able to reach him through the Force. As for your exile, such things need be discussed later, but for now, we must leave this planet and bring Kotyr's remains to Honoghr. There, he will be able to rest in peace and there the physicians of Red Dawn may be able to bring us closer to a cure for this unnatural ailment. If you have a ship, I would ask that we board immediately and engage on a course for Honoghr. All your questions will be answered in time."
In all honesty, Master Hammand ha not intention of avoiding any questions Kirwin threw in his direction, but as with all things, there would be a time and place for everything. For now, Geir was leaning on Kirwin to shuttle he and his fallen apprentice to Honoghr and though he asked of the ship in question, Geir had not been oblivious to a ship landing just prior to Kirwin's arrival on the scene. A coincidence seemed very unlikely, especially with Cinnagar in its current ruined state.
Kirwin looked back at the Silent Angel, then back at Geir, “You did see me land, yes?” he asked when the Jedi asked about transportation off the planet. Not waiting for a response to the Gundark in the room Kirwin started for his ship and said, “If you need anything from your ship, I’ll help you get it, but I am going to get the Angel ready for takeoff.” Striding up the boarding ramp, Kirwin made his way to the cockpit and began the startup sequence. The engines refused to start at first, “C’mon girl, you’ve not let me down yet. I know you can do it.” He pleaded after flipping a few switched and turning a few dials to increase fuel flow, and ignition power; the Silent Angel roared to life and was ready to traverse the galaxy once more.
Kirwin returned to the boarding ramp to see if Geir had needed any help retrieving anything from his ship or collecting his dead padawan. Standing at the top of the ramp Kirwin proceeded to ask, “Why are we going to Honoghr, and not the medical facilities on Kamino or Cularin? The Kaminoans have their extensive medical research capabilities, and Cularin has a hospital and is known for being strong in the Force. That could help us find answers through the Force.” The question was more of a suggestion rather than a questioning of a command. Kirwin didn’t exactly expect a reply because Jedi Master’s tended to almost never explain their reasonings, but he still crossed his arms in a non-threatening stance awaiting Geir.
As Kirwin left to prepare his ship, Geir gathered himself and picked the lifeless body of his recently deceased padawan up from the and carried him. His was still an adolescent and as such, had not fully grown yet. That fact, made it so Kotyr was lighter and easier to carry as he followed Kirwin toward his ship. As a member of the Jedi Order, Geir had few possessions outside of those he carried with him on a constant basis.
Kirwin had a reasonable thought in his observance that Kamino's facilities could prove to be of adequate use, but alas, there was more to consider in that moment than that. For one, the RDMC of Honoghr was closer to the core than Kamino was. Secondly, Geir hoped he would be able to come across the former Jedi Knight, Adieumus Matango, who'd likely be at the forefront of an effort to combat the death and devastation the plague had dealt the universe. Finally, Honoghr was situated closer in proximity to many of the former Jedi stronghold worlds to include the moon, Yavin IV.
Within the next few moments, Geir had boarded Kirwin's ship and taken Kotyr's corpse to the brig of the vessel where he ensure it was secured. He quickly managed to find a sheet within the bay that he draped over the fallen Bothan.
Turning, he exited the small room and found his way toward the bridge where he hoped to find Kirwin waiting.
Kirwin raised the boarding ramp via the manual controls next to it’s entrance then returned to the bridge of the Silent Angel where he found Geir waiting. “You ready to get off this planet?” he asked, not really expecting an answer, as he already knew the answer. Sitting down in the pilot seat he grabbed the controls and started lifting the Angel into the air. He took one last look at the destroyed city below them as the ship increased in speed. “Let’s hope this trip more uneventful than my trip here. The Hyperdrive has been a little finicky since I started using her.” Kirwin said to Geir as they cleared Empress Teta’s airspace and entered low orbit of the planet. Kirwin punched in the coordinates of Honoghr into the nav-computer and waited for the lock on. Reaching for the Hyperdrive control Kirwin glanced at Geir and produced a halfhearted smile before engaging it. The Angel shuddered for a second before the Hyperdrive engaged and Empress Teta was left behind.
