WHEN THE FIRE'S AT MY FEET AGAIN, AND THE VULTURES ALL START CIRCLING, THEY'RE WHISPERING 'YOU'RE OUT OF TIME,' BUT I STILL RISE!
Addison couldn’t help the grin that crossed her lips when he said ‘not bad’, she didn’t pay attention to the words after that. However his actions next had her looking at him puzzled as he fired and she could hear the blast sizzling close to her left ear. She stood stunned for a few seconds as she listened to what he said. “Are you crazy?” She asked as she looked at him, she was irritated. “You could have hit me.” She said, even if she knew better, but he could have and that was all that was stuck in her head. She could have gotten hurt by his shot, even if she hadn’t.
She listened to him talking about taking the training wheels off, from level one to five. And she swore to herself that her jaw had dropped for about 10 seconds before she had gotten it back and looked at him with a raised brow, wondering what he was planning. She winched the tip of her nose when he called her grasshopper, it made her annoyed with him and she could feel the rage coming and she wanted to prove him wrong.
She was about to turn to him but he was gone. “Typical” She muttered under her breath and as she walked over to get the vibroblade, she saw from her peripheral vision that stormtroopers walked inside, and one of them pointed the blaster in her direction and before she knew it, she ran towards the blade and once it was in her hand, she started to fend for herself, moving away from the shots, trying to not get hit, and hiding behind some platforms at times and when she had a clear view she used her RK-3 Blaster and shot at them. However getting tired of staying at a distance she chuckled to herself. “Screw this.”
She said before coming out from the platform she was hiding behind and started to fight with her blade, trying to dodge the shots and wound them back with her blade. “I would say that it’s about time to join the party, Alcide.” She yelled, for him to hear her before she returned her focus to the troopers.
The sound of his voice reverberated off the walls, echoing from a dozen different directions. It would sound like an echoing, hollow version of his voice....a slight mocking tone to it. He leapt from the platform to the next, and the next, growing ever closer to her position. He dared not move TOO fast, or the active camouflage would start to blur, ruining the invisibility. The HUD on his helmet detected more incoming.
Apparently, the training program was tired of getting beaten up. It had sent six droidekas in, fully shielded. These were no holoprojections, they were the real deal. Alcide had forgotten that the AI that ran this training facility did not like to get beaten like they were today.
This was the price for being so damn good.
Alcide enveloped himself in the force, the river of endless power raging inside him. He jumped from platform to platform, grabbing an overhead bar to accelerate his forward momentum. The force propelled his muscles to work harder, and he moved more rapidly with every step. It didnt matter anymore if the active camo was blurred...he was moving that fast. From about twenty meters away, Alcide saw something interesting....another weapons locker. Inside was something even MORE interesting....A Z6 rotary cannon.
A wicked half-smile curled across the assassin's face. This was gonna be too easy.
Dashing over to the locker, Alcide grabbed the mesh wire in front, and tore the doors from their moorings. He reached in, and picked up the rapid fire minigun-style blaster. He checked the power pack, and found it to be full. The shields around the droidekas would block some of the bolts...but it had enough firepower to reduce the shields to nothing in a matter of seconds.
He hastened himself over to where the HUD showed the movement of the rolling droids, looking for anyone they could find. Firing off an intentionally-wide burst to get their attention, Alcide whistled sharply to draw them his way. All six stopped rolling, immediately bringing their shields up. They couldnt see anyone, they knew shots had come from this direction. From out of nowhere, the Z6 began to bark. The first droid was hit more times than Alcide could count, and its shield went down in about three seconds. As soon as it had, the droid was torn to pieces by the heavy blaster rounds.
The others, as stunned as droids could be, managed to start to return fire at the unknown enemy. All they had to go on were blue bolts of plasma flying at them. Alcide, however, was already on the move. He would fire a burst, then move. Again, and again, he repeated the procedure, each droid dropping before they even had close to a bead on the man firing at them. Within thirty seconds, they were nothing but a pile of smoking rubble.
He wasn't sure how Addison would have handled full-on shielded droidekas with the weapons she held. More than likely, she was able...but he wanted to show off a bit anyway. This was a good opportunity to let her see what a force user was capable of, when coupled with the right firepower. Shouldering the weapon, he deactivated the camo, and made his way over to Addison. As he approached her, the scene around them began to fade yet again to the plain room that they had entered.
::Simulation Over. Please proceed to the exit. Scores are available in the control room. Have a nice day!::
It almost came across as snarky....almost. He removed his helmet as he came into speaking distance of Addison, and smiled broadly.
"You did well. Better than I anticipated. Perhaps you and I might be able to strike up a partnership. I could use a good fighter like you. Waddaya say?"
WHEN THE FIRE'S AT MY FEET AGAIN, AND THE VULTURES ALL START CIRCLING, THEY'RE WHISPERING 'YOU'RE OUT OF TIME,' BUT I STILL RISE!
Addison stood there wondering where the hell he was, specially when he answered her, asking what the fun was in that. She simply rolled her eyes before she looked at the droids in front of her, she fought them to her best ability but as the droidekas came, she stood there looking at them before she took cover. She knew that they were real. She couldn’t say how she knew, she just did and she didn’t want to get hit by them. She could hear them getting closer to her and she was about to get angry with him for leaving her alone. She hadn’t payed attention to her surroundings while they had entered. So she hadn’t seen him moving fast, or the blur he would leave behind from doing so.
As one of the droidekas was ready to shot towards her, she heard his whistle and watched as they changed their focus as shots were fired towards them. It didn’t take long before they were all a pile of smoking rubble. She stood where she did for a few seconds before she walked out from behind the platform, and she looked at the pile of rubble. She had mixed feelings about him, on one hand he was showing off and on the other she was amazed from seeing how somebody with control of their force powers could do.
As the scene was set back to the original, she felt like the room looked rather dull, but that wasn’t something she was going to voice. She was nervous to see how she had been doing with the scores, but she knew that there was no doubt that he had won. However she didn’t take it to heart, since it was rather her first time.
As he spoke, she listened to every single word he said, and as he was silent, she ran through them one more time inside her head. Had he just complimented her? And was he asking her to actually strike up a partnership.
She simply starred at him in amazement, still not fully over his moves on the field; even if she hadn’t seen him because of his camo, it was still amazing for her.
“Uh..” She got out as she walked over to the weapon locker and put the blade back on its place and made sure that her blaster was in the holster and safe at her side, before she walked to the exit. “I..” She tried yet again to talk, looking at him with a grin. “I think..” She said before she looked a head.
Her senses was screaming at her to turn him down, that she was better off on her own; and to not forget her quest. Still there was this little thought or voice if you would call it; that told her to do it. Something about him and his powers intrigued her to the point that she wanted to see where it would lead her, and how good she would become as well.
When they were right in front of the scoreboard, she finally turned her full attention to him. “I think it would be wisest for me to say no, which is why I’m saying yes.” She said as she softly chuckled. ‘Nice Addison’ She told herself mentally as she looked at him, wanting to see how he reacted to her words. She also stood there feeling the excitement of being able to learn more about the powers she could posses, the darkness it was so appealing to her, and she wanted to learn more and why. And maybe down the road this could be the answer. Or rather it could give her the answers she was seeking.
Maybe she would even be able to see more of the past and that man that had left the house when she was still so young. That must have been her father, now to just figure out more about him. And she was hoping that taking this path could help her with getting the answer to that question and so many others she had as well.
Alcide chuckled when she gave her answer finally. At least the trip would be entertaining at the very least. The trip to Honoghr would be long, and boring wasn't good when you were in the depths of hyperspace.
The darksider heard a beep from his communicator, and he opened the channel. The man he had hired to find suitable transportation had come across an abandoned shuttlecraft, equipped with a hyperdrive, and a fairly decent cargo bay. That, and it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. While public transport, along with bartering for passage aboard civilian vessels, had been fine for the most part to get to where he was, after the supposed attack on Honoghr, there wouldn't be anyone going there anytime soon.
Turning to Addison, Alcide gave her the jist of the plan.
"My next stop is Honoghr, a bit out there in the Eastern Outer Rim. The person I'm looking for was last reported to be there. I'm hoping he still is. Get your gear, and meet me at the hangar in an hour. I have a ship ready to go, along with a pilot to get us there.
It's time to blow this popsicle stand, eh?"
A smile crossed his face as he showed her where the ship was in the hangar via his datapad. Once she knew where it was, he would make his way back to his quarters, and do as he had told her.
In the rear the shuttle, Alcide was helping the pilot with pre-flight checks. Alcide was in the cargo bay, checking some of the replaced seals around the main hatch. Once he had completed the check, he went to his datapad, and opened up the file where he kept the information on his latest target. It had been an unknown person who put up the ten-million credit bounty on the head of one Adieumus Matango, and it was a job that Alcide was all too happy to take.
It was, after all, the same bounty whether he was brought in alive...or dead.
